Scrambler "To-Do" List:
Make gearing "taller"
Get rid of stock cat & can
Fix horrible suspension
Find an answer to the "seat from he11"

My To Do list is exactly like Tony's except I've already made the switch to 16 tooth counter. I probably won't spend the necessary bucks to fix the suspension. Isn't it strange that a M/C can handle so well while having such bad suspension compliance??

The cat and exhaust combo weighs just over 11 lbs, I had it off and weighed it three days ago. Personally I want to hear a little better ratio of exhaust howl vs valve clatter. I am considering buying a Supertrapp silencer and adapting it to the Scrambler Icon that I am riding - don't think it would be too hard to do.

Have a peek inside the cat.

Thanks for this...

I'm looking forward to a little weight reduction when the stock stuff comes off soon.

There are to my knowledge 3 exhausts available with cat:
Termi
Remus
Zard low
I think I saw a Remus muffler (and the Termi low mount) that have their own catalytic converter incorporated into the design
The Termi low mount slip on has a resonator, but not a catalytic converter. The Termi double shotgun on the Full Throttle does have a cat. Just wanted to be clear on that.

High mount Termi comes with air filter, db-Killer and dedicated Up-Map key.

Installation requires CAT removal, and it has no CAT inside.

With db-Killer installed it sound exactly like an old VW Beetle, tragic, it tweets like a bird storm.

Without db-Killer it sounds deep and roars like an over-size lion. Loud and clear, with some return blast. Awesome.

Too much maybe, as you can expect a sound like that coming from a more aggressive bike, but really engaging.

The difference on stock is a declared +5% in torque and power, and in my experience a more fluid action at all speeds, in particular at very low rpm.

I've got it for the aesthetic aspect first, for the sound also. Weight reduction is a good point too.

I'm wondering if any modifications (other than the Termis) would/could void the warranty of the motorcycle..?
In the USA (by federal law), the manufacturer would have to definitively prove that any modification directly caused a failure in order to void ANY warranty claim.

👍 that's nice to know :)
The regulation I am reffering to is known as the "Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act", here is the key language...

Warrantors cannot require that only branded parts be used with the product in order to retain the warranty. This is commonly referred to as the "tie-in sales" provisions, and is frequently mentioned in the context of third-party computer parts, such as memory and hard drives.

I think in some cases they might be lazy enough to warranty something that shouldn't have been because proving it otherwise would be too time consuming.

I am waiting on lo Zards to arrive.. They specifically said, no re-map needed.
Just remember that "needed" is a subjective term and the aftermarket is in business to sell pipes. Nearly all aftermarket exhaust manufacturers say they are "plug & play" but it's almost guaranteed that a straight slip on with no other fueling mods will affect your fueling negatively. That's why the OEM solution (Termignoni) comes with an ECU remap.

Whether that fueling difference is noticeable to you or not is also subjective however so by no means am I trying to dissuade you/anyone.

What I can say for certain is that I am THRILLED to finally own a Duc with smooth low RPM fueling (Streetfighter, Diavel, M696 were varying levels of bad in OEM configuration) and I'm not sure I'd risk that for any amount of sound/performance/aesthetics at this point.

What I don't get is why dealers don't all have access to the richer map. It comes on a proprietary USB key only when you have purchased the exhaust.

What if I'm some farmer who just wants to use my Ducati for off road hill climbing use only? It'd be nice if they could install the non EPA map on demand, for a small fee. What was even more disconcerting is when people paid the price for the Termi only to have the dealer not be able to install the map or fumble the install which I believe means it can't be attempted again thanks to their copy protection fail safes...

I mean I get it. It's all about the $$$

If past Ducs are any indicator, Tuneboy and TuneECU are as close as we will get to "consumer-friendly" fueling solutions (more pro-sumer really, as they are not that user-friendly).

I'm waiting patiently. All I'd really like to use it for is to reset my service indicator and keep an eye on any DTC that the computer knows about.

I emailed Rexxer a couple weeks ago asking them what all I need to buy from them to do this and they haven't responded yet.

I'm not so sure about that. When I had my termi installed I wasn't real happy with the performance. The technician from the dealership then remapped the bike, let it go through its 15 minute learning phase again and it seemed to be running better. The technician also give me the key in case I wanted to eventually sell the termi.

If you want to try the remap sans termi and your dealer is willing to install it, I can send you the key. But if things go south and I'm remembering correctly, I don't think the technician who did my install knew how to restore the factory settings if needed. So you might want to check that aspect out with your dealer first.

That's OK for now. Thanks for the offer though! It'll be interesting in the future if we accumulate various maps that people end up creating based on differing setups for air cleaners and exhaust systems. I'm hopeful that over time it'll happen.

Looking at the Booster plug picture on the Shift Tech site it has actually been sourced from Booster Plug .com as they are selling them for the scrambler with free worldwide postage .
