What's the red connector sticking out under the seat, and the huge thing that sit's on the display. Is it for someone with bad eyesight or something, to make it more readable? Can't figure out what it is.

The red thing is a plug for an Optimate battery (looks better on mine as it's black and red, and luckily I have an Optimate :) ) but you can stuff it under the seat. Hadn't noticed that thing on the bars, have no idea! It does look a bit like a magnifying glass :D

Cheers. Must have some how managed to skip over that post when reading through.

I assume, if you get an optimate that you don't ride every week, and have longer periods of keeping the bike "locked down". Or does it have any other real uses? Does it actually improve battery life? (have never used one)

It's actually a battery conditioner so it runs the battery through numerous cycles that will ensure that the battery will last as long as possible. For example, rather than continually charging a battery it will charge then discharge etc etc. I've got three of them, one for each bike, and they are the dogs danglies.
