This is what I'm doing - charge the phone and use the phone as a navigator. To do this, you need a USB cable and a phone holder. You should also make a rubber cap for the USB plug to prevent water from leaking into it when it is not in use. I find it quite useful for long trips.

I have a lot to do with mine and have all the hardware waiting for it.

1)Intend to move the USB socket up front to the handle bar area. will be used for action cam, GPS, emergency charging duties for bluetooth device, phone etc
2)Need to add a 12V socket for my DIY bike pressure wash & blow dryer
3)Need to add a battery health indicator right alongside it - have spent a fortune on dead batteries in bikes due to my erratic usage patterns.

something like this will get added somewhere along the handlebar area:

Keeps my iPhone charged for running the Navigon app on long rides. I can set up longer complicated routes on Google maps, then export them for Navigon with an app called ITN Converter and email them to my phone. Not worrying about the route and having voice navigation in my headset is awesome.

I looked at it the other day. Other than that, I might use it to charge my phone on long rides.

For those that routed the cable under the tank, how did you route it? Did you just fish it through or did you loosen the tank?

I just ran it under the tank. I don't normally ride with the phone on the mount (only on a long ride), so I take the mount off most of the time. The power line is hardwired into the mount. If I run the wire under the tank along the left side, I can take it off and put it on in less than a minute.

I have a small 12V tire pump, all you need is an adapter and you could use it to inflate tires, really helpful or like others have said charge your cell phone.

Wild Man, I'm afraid this 5V USB rated at 10 Watts max (the USB standard) will not be able to run a tire pump. Neither the voltage, nor the power rating is correct for the job.

Even I have a 12V Slime Tire pump and that's why I've always drawn a separate fused line from directly from the battery - to run all my essential 12V devices on my bikes.

I intend to do the same on my Scrambler.

So, do you tire pump guys carry one of these things when you ride? If so where?
I've pumped up bike tires and car tires with a bicycle hand pump no problem (it takes a while), so I'm keen to hear why & when you'd use the bike's power to use an electric tire pump.

I have never used the tire pump off a motorcycle battery. I have a small pump that could go in a jacket pocket or a saddle bag. I have a car that has no spare tire, it came from the factory with a nice tire pump that plugs into the lighter socket. I have used the car tire pump to inflate motorcycle and car tires many times because I am too lazy to use a manual pump.

@ outofthebox Thanks for the heads up about the weak voltage from the motorcycle battery. You could still carry a small 12V pump and maybe get somebody to let you use their car battery to inflate your tire. A lot of service stations do not have tire pumps that work.

Awesome. I would like to eventually get a phone mount and have it charge. Is running the line under the tank hard to do? I'm not handy at all unfortunately and have never worked on bikes. Only been riding a year but would like to learn. Would love to see photos of how its run if anyone has any.

Also would love to see everyone's phone mounts!
