Like the title says, if you want ideas to improve on the stock, underseat toolkit, have a look HERE.

**** yeah, nice find. The spanner worked reasonably well for adjusting the shock but just looking at the rest of them its pretty obvious that the bargain bin at harbor freight would have been a step up.

I'm jealous you have a tool roll. I have bag that looks just like that but it's a bag that doesn't open up or have discreet storage sections. Your new kit looks pretty complete. What is the crescent wrench to be used for?

Thats the roll that came stock with my Classic (I assumed all the models had the same, no?)

The crescent wrench is for my paranoia about overlooking some other fastener, and will probably be deleted over time.

Different bag - for sure.

Same crappy tools though.

Your Scrambler tool roll should be there - held in place under the seat with an elastic against the black metal seat base. Go look for it now! :)

I know it's the fad to blast tool kits as crappy but actually I don't mind them. I have used all sorts over the years and these seem par for the course. I'll probably put a in hardened hex key or two but I don't see much need to add anything. At least I got a C spanner! My KTM kit didn't come with one and the shock on it was huge and none of my C spanners fit.

In all my years of motorcycling I've never used any of the factory tool kit while out on the road. I had to fabricate a clutch cable a couple years ago, but had to buy all the tools from a Wal*mart. Bicycle cable kit, cheap pliers, side cutters, and bolts to make it all work.

I have a box of crappy tools I've had to buy while either driving in my car or on a bike over the years. I've never had a standard issue pop up like a loose factory bolt. It's always some sort of weird problem like the clutch cable breaks or something falls off and needs to be zip tied back into place until I get home. A pack of 100 12" zip ties would probably suit me better than any allen wrenches :)

It really all depends on the distances you travel frequently - for the most part.

I take multi-day trips at least twice a month that cover anywhere from 500 to 1500 miles each.

Twice a year I manage some 10 day trips that cover 3000 to 4000 miles total.

Managed to take a single trip a couple of years ago that totaled over 10000 miles.

I have 3 bikes on hand - all the time, and ride very single day - year round. In 2014 I put over 40K on them.

I ALWAYS need tools on hand.

I rarely ride more than 100 miles in any one direction. I put maybe 3000 miles on one bike in a busy year and ride about 5000 miles at best any summer. But problems do crop up and usually not textbook stuff (because it's usually due to something weird I did like "hey guys, watch this sweet move...")

I don't have one at all as my Italian temperamental pride and joy will never break down or so I'm told!!!
Good luck with that!
