Just got my custom seat back from BMS Custom Saddles. I have only ridden about 30 miles, but what a difference.

If you have not had a custom seat made, you don't know what you are missing. I emailed pictures of me sitting on bike, and they customized the seat. Huge difference.

I had my 2004 Multistrada done as well- it is in shop for service. Can't wait to ride it later today when I pickup from Ducati Austin.

I am in Austin, Tx. area. I shipped the seat to BMS in CA. They requested pictures to see the seating position, ground clearance, etc. This allowed them to customize, refoam, and cover seat with new vinyl.

Looks great. it looks bigger or wider than OEM. I had a Harley seat customized by a guy in Texas Boss Hogs Custom seats in Dalls. Seat went from crap to awesome. Custom Motorcycle Seats and Gel pad inserts - Dallas, TX

Maybe you have the answer.

i heard it cost about the same as a regular aftermarket seat?

The cost was more than an aftermarket seat. The seat is custom made to fit. I purchased another Ducati Scrambler seat used on the urban endure model, but it was not much better than the original Icon seat. I still have the UE Scrambler seat but sent in the Icon seat to be redone.

Below is a pricing matrix from Bill Mayer saddles:

That is a beautiful job - I am sure it is very comfortable. How long were you without your seat? I have a gel seat pad that I use on my HD Road Glide and it works well on my Icon. Looks pretty dorky though. I think the stock seat is very uncomfortable after about 1 hour and by 3 hours all I can think about is getting off the bike. The stock seat seems to make me sit in just one spot which is never good.
Please let us know your ongoing experiences with your new seat?

I am going to send my bike to Boss Hogs. He reupholstered my stock Harley seat and put a gel pad in for $225.00. It felt great afterwards and I can live with that price. Sooner or later I will buy one of the aftermarket seats when they come out. But for the money I will try the boss again. Here are before and after pics:

Just got back from riding Pikes Peak and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. We trailered the Ducati Scrambler and 2004 Multistrada. I had seats customized for both motorcycles before starting the trip.

I could not ride the Scrambler for more than an hour in comfort. Sometimes I would hope the light turned red, so I could stand up for a minute and relax the rear end. Now, I can ride much longer with no issues.

We made this a family trip with another couple. My daughter and wife rode up Pikes Peak with me. I mostly rode the Multistrada, and my buddy rode the Scrambler. I put about 600 miles over a few days on the Multistrada. I was never uncomfortable with new seat. Both seats made a huge difference. I highly recommend the upgrade.

I also highly recommend riding Pikes Peak and Rocky Mountains. It was fabulous. I saw Jaime Robinson the day before the race on Pikes Peak. He rode a new Ducati Multistrada and raced on Sunday. I rode the mountain Saturday, but did not stay for race. We headed up to Estes Park instead to ride Rock Mountain National Park instead.

Did not want to come home...

The official Ducati Comfort seat blows.. I took it off and rode 400 miles this weekend with the OEM seat which also blows. The design of @ssrealty 's seat looks a lot like my Corbin solo seat in terms of the 'dish' it's got that you sit in, which is key. I really need something else if I'm going to ride more than 100 miles at a time, because I had to spray Gold Bond all over my crotch just to get myself home tonight :)

@PeteI, did I see you mention that your bike is at Corbin right now? If so, what sort of seat are you having them create? I sent them a long email last week with photos of what I wanted and got a reply worse than a Craigslist Ad for a 3000 dollar Porsche 956:

>Thank you very much for your interest in our products, we've been making
>seats over 40 years and are the leading motorcycle seat manufacture in the
>country. We will have something with in time for that new cool model
>bike. We would have to borrow that specific bike for 4 weeks so the
>R&D team can start tooling on a master mold.By any chance you reside
>in CA ? free seat if you let us borrow the bike, lol

i need to do this, I got the comfort seat and it also sucks, before the comfort seat I could ride hour tops, now I can ride and hour and 5 mins. I need to do something.
Shame to hear that. I just ordered the comfort seat yesterday.

Still, I will give it a go. At least it will make the bike a little taller. Hopefully the knees will last longer before starting to lock up.
