Last week I had a 1500 km fun tour that started very wet. Some impressions:
WET after 500 km in pouring rain!

Later on the sun was on our side. Black forest with an old friend on a Speed Triple, I had no problem keeping up, and since he had the GPS I appreciate now even more having a cat in the exhaust. These old bikes stink when tail gating them!

Finally the most beautiful trip home through the mountains of the black forest, les Vosges and the Jura. The race managers said I was a bit fast >:D and I had to pay a little fun fee. :crying: But no sweat compared to the poor Harlley guy that came next. Open
tubes, and you would not believe it: They had portable DB meters!

This is the best touring bike I ever rode. Seated totally relaxed (I will not change the handle bar! Comfort before looks!), no back pain, the stock seat broke nicely into my behind or vice versa, submarine weather no problem for the bike, and with the tank bag I am comfortably riding at 140-150 km/h on the freeway just leaning into the wind and keeping things constant while smiling 0:).

Cheers, Albrecht

Sounds like you had a great trip. I love riding the Vosges and the Black Forest and all my biking holidays end up spending a lot of time around the Colmar area as a base. Good to hear the bike coped well and I can see the tank bag went some way to blocking the wind off your body. Cheers for sharing :)

Is that a Mercedes police vehicle?

If so I know cops where i'm located would be willing to ditch their Crown Victoria Ford for that any day
Yes Sir! We are looking at Mercedes country. BTW, the cops were all bikers themselves, loved the Scrambler, asked a ton of questions about the bike, and let me slip with the minimum fine of 10 bucks. If they had caught me in Switzerland it would have rather be 100 ... The reason I was a bit fast was that I had a guy on a BMW R9T chasing me and although I think I am a relaxed guy you got to have some pride :) Mean though: I got fined, and he got away because as a local he knew where they are flashing ... And yep, I would ditch that Victoria, too!

Nice trip... $10 for a speeding fine?! WTF! What about points? Over here (Australia) we go from $150 rapidly to $300+ depending on speed, and then loss of license for 6-12 months, a court appearance and possibly doing time if you're fast enough... (40km/h over the speed limit me as license loss, a $800-2000 fine and court hearing)

In Germany it´s a bit more relaxed. <=10 km/h above limit out of town is 10 €. Beyond that it get´s progressive. But Switzerland and France are waaay more expensive. Normally I try to comply, especially in villages/towns. You never know when that kid may stumble onto the road. But the Scrambler is so light and strong, you really got to watch your right hand...

race management

Race managers huh? I like that - I think I'll start using it :D Sounds like a fun ride!
In Austria there is this crazy guy Zonko who founded a sort of outlaw bike magazine. They came up with their own biker slang. "Rennleitung" (race management) is one of my favorites. The other one is "Bürgerkäfig" (citizen´s cage) for cars

I translated his hilarious review of the scrambler in an earlier post:

Nice RR. Would you say that this bike would be ideal for a rtw kinda trip? The weight is a bit high but it looks like it could do the job. What say you?

Look forward to reading more rr from you in future.
Hi, I am not an offroader, so if you want to go through the Sahara I have no clue. Would be more worried about stowing my gear on it and overheating the cylinder heads than about the weight ... ;)
