Great idea on removing the bar but doesn't it pose a problem if you are checked by the local police? I admittedly have never worried about noise levels on my bikes so I don't know much about the function of the DB killer outside toning down the exhaust note.
My dealership removed the DB killer when they fitted the new exhaust and after riding it for a week I won't be using mine. I happen to be in an area that I have never had an officer check noise levels and even without the DB killer the exhaust on mine is much less noise than my previous Sportster. It is music to my ears.
See how the pipe is welded in the centre? Well that's where the bar is connected. Then there is the outer collar which fits snugly in the end of the exhaust, and is held in place with the small screw you can see fitted through a matching hole in the exhaust.
