Hello guys

I contacted Mugello Bangkok yesterday to enquire about them fitting the SW-Motech blaze panniers on my bike. They have pics on their facebook page with them on a scrambler.

Now I know that SW dont have them listed on their website yet so the first question I asked them is how they were secured to the bike?. He said they use a strap across the top of the seat and also use a bracket to hold the weight of them.

This is what else he said..He needs to drill the frame to mount the brackets!!

I really fancy these panniers but i'm very concerned about drilling my frame to make the mounts.

What do you guys think? I think I need to take a look how they do it.

Ive attached the pics of the bags but its very hard to tell how its done. You can see some kind of bar under the seat which slides into the sleeve on the bag.

Drilling the frame is a BIG commitment... possibly a risk too! I'd just wait until there's something else out in the market that suits you. The bike is still way too new - just a matter of time.

Surely he means the sub frame which, while not being quite so mind bogglingly insane and almost certainly warranty and insurance destroying, won't be happening on my bike any time soon. Personally I'd say that's a no, no.

Yes I assume its the subframe as well. Be interesting to see the mod on the existing bike. Just a further note, i'm actually taking it all with a pinch of salt as we had a language barrier conversation so for all I know he may use some sort of clamp around the subframe but knowing Thailand he will probably drill it!

I emailed SW-Motech about their Panniers, and they said they will be making a Scrambler version for sure, but it'll be next spring. There will be so many accessories coming out over the next year that I think I'm going to sit back and not do much for a while. I'd had to drop a bunch of money or do some frame drilling, only to have a better solution come out a few months later.

Yep. Hard to sit still sometimes though, I know.
