I was looking at one in real life at the dealership a few days ago and it looks like it is molded black plastic with a yellow sticker on it. I believe the yellow sticker could be removed quite easily if you wanted it to just be flat black or if you want to apply something else to it. Try as I might, I do not see any way that this thing would have been moulded out of clear plastic (at least not the one I saw).

It's strictly aesthetics. If it was <$100, I would have thought about it but at over $200 CDN...it's just way too much money. I'm sure the aftermarket will come out with a bunch of these accessory options before long so I'm in no rush to go give Ducati any more money.

I just can't believe they can't be bothered to provide a red, orange, and olive sticker as a kit. It boggles the mind that the extra $0.50 investment on their side couldn't take place to color match it to the entire range of bikes.

Then again I've noticed some of the other accessories don't match their original intention like the tank protector sticker. The Classic has an extra piece of sticker up in front of the gasoline filler between the steering stem. I noticed it when @tonyjuliano posted a photo of his bike where you can see the top of the fuel tank.

The sticker they sell for 30 dollars only comes as the lower piece. So in theory the only way to get the top sticker is to purchase a Classic bike.

vs my bike with only the lower half of the sticker that I purchased as an accessory

Ebay to the rescue with numerous decal kits, most under $20 shipped. These are long enough to do the tank and both fenders. Also easy to remove and replace with different color's if you ever get bored.
Hey cycle time,

Dig those decals. Where on eBay did you get those?

John, look under 2.5" racing stripes vinyl. It is on sale now for $12.58 for a six foot roll. More than enough to do your entire bike and then some. I just eliminated one of the narrow stripes and ended up with a 2" decal that fits perfectly inside the curves of the rear fender. Here's a picture of the eyelid I just completed and decaled with left over vinyl.

Ahhh grasshopper, you have solved the riddle! The Scrambler Ducati marketing program was designed to mimic that great American Icon of a company - Harley Davidson; where a dealer can expect to sell +/- $5,000 in accessories/clothing for each new bike sold. And it is no secret that most (but not all) HD owners are aptly described in your comment above.

So far the only Ducati provided "accessory" I have is the free shirt my dealer gave me when a friend I recommended to them also purchased a new Ducati. "Welcome to the Land of Bling." NB: I do love my Scrambler. I'm just not a fan of marketing in general. As the slogan for the fictitious company Brute Force Cybernetics claimed - "We create a need and then fill it". Nothing like truth in advertising.
