Had a chance to take a trip today unconstrained by the tedium of the break in period, read all about it HERE.

That's a nice write-up. This is the first bike that I find it easy to use most of the sidewall of the tires. I always felt like I was going to die when I had my Speed Triple even though it was theoretically possible to lean over to the chicken strips.

"Gearing - I find the stock gearing to be a little tall - but this will be easily (and cheaply) fixed by fitting a rear sprocket with 2 less teeth." 2 less teeth in the back would make it taller, correct?

Tony,

Much appreciated your time and effort on your write up, looking forward to getting past the break in period. I agree this all your comments re fixes, I'm hoping my one issue will recede after its first service that neutral is still hard to find and sometimes when you have found neutral the green light does not always show.

Embarrassing in a car park full of bikers.

Thanks again.

Will

I'm just curious to the list of Motorcycles you have had and currently owned. I've owned and ridden only sub 200cc motorbikes and the Scrambler is my first jump to into the "big bike" range.. For me it is a lot heavier than my previous bikes and maneuvering at slow speeds is much more difficult.. But i love that it has all the power i need. I even like the twitchy throttle because in my smaller bikes, I'm always twisting full throttle constantly. With the Scrambler i need to be restrained. Fuel consumption is a slight bummer for me because i was easily getting >120mpg. But i don't have any guilty feeling knowing that ~40mpg is still better than most cages. I agree with you on the suspension and tires.. Even if i don't have the courage and skill to drag the footpegs safely.

The current list is easy, just have a look at my forum signature in this post.

A historical list would be quite an undertaking, as I've owned and ridden too many to even remember. I'm just north of 50 years old now, been riding motorcycles since I was 13. Learned on dirt bikes - graduated to a career in road racing career in my 20's, before being forced to give it up due to serious accident. I've had at least 2 or 3 (at times, more) bikes in my garage for most of my life, they usually change every 4 - 5 years or so.

Let's just say I've owned and/or ridden everything from mopeds to full spec race bikes pushing 200 HP over the years., but my preference is for mid-displacement bikes that are very light.

Great story. As someone who's 700 kms into the break-in process, I'm VERY curious to experience what the bike will be like after the 1K kms service.

Keeping it under 6K is a real willpower test!

Thanks for sharing!
