A. Is it possible?
B. What are the pros and cons?

I believe it is there to burn off excess fuel so it doesn't clog up the CAT, I also read somewhere that it may aid in smooth running of the engine at low revs? (Not sure how that would work though)

If anything burning fuel in the exhaust is going to raise temps, my rear cyl gets so hot in traffic that it's burning my legs! Also if removed the lack of pipework would free up some air space going to the read cyl...

It's probably going to throw a code if you unplug it too?

ANY THOUGHTS

Yeah I'm sure it would, however that could possibly be prevented by leaving the pump/valve connected and blanked off, or put some kind of resistor in its place to simulate to the ecu that the component is still there.

My main issue is would it effect smooth running of the engine, I don't care about the cat either as that will be going soon anyway.

So after fitting my new muffler which is basically straight through wide open with Fiberglas packing, I was getting bad popping and sometimes the odd flame from the exhaust. This was hapening worst when coming off throttle from being over 5k rpm and almost always when engine braking.

So I removed the sas and the problem has completely gone!

The way I see it is the intake air is being fed directly to the cyl head where there is enough residual fuel and high enough temps to cause ignition, hence the popping and flames.

So I kept the electronic valve attached so that I wouldn't get an engine code and disconnected and plugged the hoses going to the cylinder heads. I will test the resistance of the unit tomorrow so I can get a resistor to go in its place, then I may try and relocate the horn in its place.

So far it is still smooth as butter and seems to have a meatier sound up top, one thing to mention though is when I first went to pull off I nearly stalled the motor but I was quickly testing it without gloves which felt weird and the motor was cold, it didn't happen again but I'll look out for it next cold start.

It's a biltwell mini muffler. It's just a universal muffler not specifically for the scrambler.

The removal of the sas will improve things massively, and it's really simple.

You can find it behind the right side plastic cover under the tank. (The triangle one) you disconnect the 2 bottom hoses and plug them or fold and cable tie them. (Leave them attached to the cyl head side)

You still get the odd pop now and then but nowhere near the amount I was getting pre removal!
