I've posted this link twice already, but since they're hidden in threads unrelated to seat comfort and so many people have mentioned this topic I figured it warranted its own thread. So if anyone has any info on this seat or other suggestions for improving seat comfort, please contribute.

This seat from pure-ducati.com increases the padding and therefore the seat height as well and sells for $299.00. Ducati Scrambler Comfort Seat 96880221A

I find the stock seat just fine for about 160 miles or so. I rarely go further than that in a day. Also, I just finished my break-in, so the seat is still pretty new, and it may improve with time. I'd only be interested in a "more comfortable" seat if it could be comfortable for longer... like over 200 miles.

I purchased the comfort seat in a brown color for my Yellow Scrambler. It is more comfortable than standard seat. I have not put many miles on it. Has been raining every day this week.

Let me try to help here. I spoke to Ducati Roma and they confirmed this is the comfort seat, 2.5cm higher than the standard one, and that it will be available beginning of June. It has the same fit and finish of the urban enduro seat, but it is black instead of brown.

So if you want it brown you have to order the UE seat, but that has the standard height, if you instead are after increased height you have to order the comfort seat, but that is black only.

I initially ordered the UE seat, but I have now agreed with the dealer to wait until they have the comfort version in shop, and I will then compare and decide, although most likely will go for the taller, black, comfort seat.

hope this helps
ciao

Just put some miles on the existing seat. It breaks in and is more comfortable.
I finally got to demo ride the icon scrambler today. I don't like the seat position. The very front part is flat. But I can't sit on the very front since that is too forward and unnaturally cramped. So in the natural seating position, I noticed the seat slopes upward. So it felt like I was sitting on a hump. The slant felt like the hump was right on my tailbone. I found this to be very uncomfortable. I don't understand why the slope to the hump isn't further back.

So instead of describing the seat as being too hard I'd say the slope of the seat seems wrong.

Is this slope what you consider to soften and become more comfortable? And become more flat perhaps with the break in?

And is anyone shaving their seat to become flat in the seating area?

You ever ride a rode bicycle? It's kinda like getting used to a saddle on a road bicycle to me. Everyone complains at first and then after a few hundred miles, your ass/seat is broken in and you do not even notice it.

For me, the seating position is just right, I like the position because I am use to riding dirt bikes with my nuts all the way up to the tank. So the slope of the seat works for me.

The only thing I felt weird about is that the Icon seat is narrow across the top, almost like a modern enduro, but not as bad as something like a DRZ400.

My street bike right now has a Corbin gunfighter which is a hard and wide seat, so that's what I'm used to. I'll wait to form an opinion over the course of at least 1000 miles to see if me and the seat get along and if the seat itself gets softer with use.

gopam,

if you take the seat off and look at the base it is shaped much like the foam but more so, I'll try to describe as best I can.

The front of the seat has 4 to 5 inches of foam and if you can sit well forward is actually not too bad and does break in / soften. If you follow the shape of the top of the seat, where it slopes up toward the back, about half way along, the base does the same thing but more extreme, the base rises so much the foam goes from its 4 to 5 inches to about 1 1/2. So when I sit in a position that's comfortable I'm on a slope and half on deep foam and half on shallow foam and can feel the ridge of the seat base. Bloody uncomfortable

It's a crap design.

The comfort seat by adding 25mm of foam will reduce the ability to feel the ridge in the seat base, I haven't seen one but I suspect that it will be shaped the same as the original which means it will still have the slope towards the back. Probably still crap just not as crap.

All that said, my comfort seat is on order, either it will work or I'll use the base and have it redone by a seat specialist.

Sort of off topic but just a msg to Smifff, if you want your seat done locally go to John Moorhouse (ergo seats) up near Capalaba. He does brilliant work from home now. I've had half a dozen seats redone by him and they are all comfortable, including a Corbin gunfighter on my Guzzi that would just never suit me after 5 yrs or so (too hard, too fat arsed saddle shape etc) and he made it good. PM me if you want his number.

Is the kick up in the seat pan a required thing? What is it clearancing from below? I've always hated bad seat pan design. A Piaggio Fly scooter is the same basic design as a Vespa LX150 but the seat difference was so pathetic that one feels like a Cadillac and the other feels like a horrible Chinese torture device. No idea how any engineers let it happen. It had a plastic step in the pan to clear the battery though. Can the scrambler live without the step in the seat pan at the cost of storage space or is there something in the way under there?

Totally agree with you! I've done just over 1000 miles on mine now, the seat isn't broken in and my tailbone still hurts after a while. It is a bad design, the testers were probably very slim people with no arses.... I've ordered the comfort seat, although I'm dubious that 25mm will make much difference....

Thanks Doc,

That's helpful, I actually wasn't sure where to go.
I just looked him up, he gets good reviews, I'll see how the comfort seat goes and if I'm still not happy I'll give him a call.

I had my stock seat sculpted out to make it lower but had a gel pad inserted at the same time with a covering of softer foam. It has made a huge difference! Did about 200 miles today and not once did I ache :)
My friend did this as well. He had back surgery in recent times and said that getting a gel pad is the BEST and cheapest way to go instead of a whole new seat and or having an entire seat remade!!

After the 300 mile ride today, I can say my ass is broken - don't know about the seat.

Actually, I think the seat is fine. For me its the ergos of seat/knees/feet and handlebar. I use to ride the M796 400 - 500 miles, no problem. So the nuts against the tank not a problem, thank you Brembo brakes.

The reason. I'm interested in the 'comfort' seat is the additional inch. With a different handlebar, I'm thinking this might sort things out.

I actually hope it's not softer. I do ride bicycles and don't bother with any padding unless its 40+ miles.
