Hello
As told is the corresponding DIY article :
http://www.ducatiscramblerforum.com...diy/17105-diy-replace-springs-front-fork.html , I have replaced my fork springs by progressive springs coming from Wilbers company
Wilbers Suspension Manufaktur | Online Shop
The modification also includes removing 20 cl of oil within each leg.
Before modification, the fork values are :
- total length : 195 mm
- sag with bike weight only : 30 mm
- sag with bike and pilot (85 kg) : 50 mm
- maximum sag after riding, with strong braking phases : 135 mm
After modification :
- total length : 195 mm
- sag with bike weight only : 25 mm
- sag with bike and pilot (85 kg) : 50 mm
- maximum sag after riding, with strong braking phases : to be tested tomorrow
I checked the fork behaviour, statically in my garage. It seems to be softer in compression, which is quite normal as some uncompressible oil has been replaced by an equivalent volume of compressible air.
After a first test ride this morning, I confirm that the fork is softer on small bumps and it seems to be also softer on high speed shocks. The maximum sag seems to be larger, but I have no tools to measure it, I'll give the exact value this evening.
So, even, if I could only change, for the moment, one spring, there's already an improvment in the fork behaviour.
