Took my yellow scrambler icon for the 600 or rather 621 mile service couple days back and the service guys noticed a leak or a seep in the rear shock. A little shocked considering how new it is and I don't do any kind of off-roading. The dealer has ordered a replacement since its under warranty and am hoping Ducati will agree to the claim and send a new one.

Love the scrambler, its a great bike, fits me very well and good for two up riding as well. Just don't like it having issues this soon. But again its nothing compared to some of the issues others have faced.

The service rep at the dealership said it should be fine, Ducati is usually good with claims like this. It definitely seems like there is some leakage, find a little puddle each time I check back, maybe the size of a palm. Not sure if I should refrain myself from riding, rather difficult to do that. Each time I look at it I want to go ride. :)

Not sure what has happened, maybe I should have waited for a brand new one, bought the demo bike since I loved it so much that I couldn't wait. I am a bit impulsive when it comes to bikes.

I love the bike though, most fun I have had on a any bike.

Not surprised at all - about the leaking or the fact that Ducati didn't hesitate to replace it.

That cheap unit costs them $34 to replace.

Tony-

It couldn't be just 34 bucks, seriously? So I spoke to the dealer about the possibility of Ducati not honoring the claim, he said unlikely, but if they were to not honor it these units cost around 500 - 600 $!! and then labor to replace it.

Let me know.

This info came to me from a VERY reliable source, I have no reason to doubt it - this is someone who has been around the industry for many years now, and whose expertise is also suspension components.

Ducati could not sell one of those for $500-600 in a million years.

That very well could be their cost. It doesn't mean they wouldn't put the parts cost at something stupid like $500 since all manufacturers mark up parts prices quite a bit, but it wouldn't shock me (pun intended) if it was only $34 out of Ducati's pocket to make one of them. It's not a high quality unit by any stretch of the imagination.

Well I guess it is what it is, that said, are you planning on swapping it out for a better unit?

Heard from the dealer and they have my replacement ready, Ducati did send a new one, so pretty happy about that. Hopefully, this new one doesn't start leaking.
