Out of curiosity, can anyone get the scrambler to power wheelie?

My old SV would do it even if I wanted or not (but it was very controllable).
The scrambler has similar torque and is a bit lighter, but the seating position and perhaps weight distribution doesn't seem to do it any favours in the power wheelie department.

I'm not killing it, and probably a bit scared to do so as it feels a bit more uncontrollable then the smooth SV.

So let me know if you are, and how you do it?

Secondly, where do you sit on the scrambler (assuming the standard seat on the icon). It's quite easy for me to fall all the way between seat and tank, but placing myself a bit more up the seat just makes the bike a bit more enjoyable in the twisties, but also a bit more scary on the front wheelie (skiddy)

I've only had mine wheelie in first gear. It only did it on accident once and it was when I was screwing around in a parking lot in front of a couple of friends. I purposely had ridden through some sand to show them how the ABS worked and then afterwards I goosed the throttle and the tire came up pretty good. I've never had the tire come off of the ground in 2nd gear regardless of how hard I'm getting after it.

Otherwise, now if I'm trying to do it I pretty much have to let off throttle in first and then goose the throttle to get it to come up. Since I have an Icon the seat doesn't want me to be slid back, so I haven't tried sitting back further. I suck at wheelies and can't control a power wheelie to the point I should even be doing them. And I don't plan on doing clutch-up wheelies just because it's a brand new bike and I don't really have anyone to show off for, so it's not worth the wear and tear on everything.

for me, the weight distribution is working against it, first will lift without the clutch, second I either need to be way back on the seat or use the clutch.

again for me, I haven't been able to find the balance point, it will lift but it doesn't feel comfortable so I'm not getting any distance.

I typically sit a third of the way back on the seat, pretty much on the ridge

It's almost like they put the ridge in the Icon seat to keep new riders from killing themselves :)

looks like you may be correct, comment from a thread on the other forum,

"I also realize why Ducati made the dip. It would be a wheelie monster if it didn't have it. I very rarely had the front wheel of the ground before the seat. I think the extra height was just enough to shift the center to the point that wheelies are very easy now."

When I test rode the Icon, I chirped the rear wheel and almost lifted that front wheel letting off the clutch. Lol, scared the bejeezus outta me! Dunno if I'm the kind of person who'd want to do that intentionally but no doubt they're out there. ;)

Bet a seat with some gripper material on the sides wouldn't hurt...

I find it hard to believe, but I'll let you know on Wednesday because I ordered the 'comfort seat' as well and it's on its way. Not for wheelies.. just to relieve a lot of that male camel toe that Ducati's seat forces upon you.

Keep in mind that rider weight is going to play a really important role here when it comes to where one is sitting on the seat and if the bike wheelies. A 220lb guy sitting at the tank can rev it all day long and it probably won't come up for love or money. I can tell you that as a 180 lb guy sitting back from the tank (against the slope of the FT seat), if you get on it hard with warm tires in 1st gear from 4K rpm until 6k rpm, that the front will begin to lift at least a couple inches. I'm in the break-in period so the fun police steps in at 6k rpm...

If this does work as others have described (I'll know after the 1K service), I'll make a simple video to illustrate it if that helps any would-be-wheeliers on this forum.

I'm 160 pounds and sit kind of far back. I don't have super long arms, but I just like to be back further than the designers wanted us to be. My bike will only wheelie in first gear if I'm trying and I've never felt it lift the wheel in 2nd gear regardless of how hard I'm on the throttle.

I must have the governed version!
