Hi All,
I'm on the verge of buying a scrambler and thought this forum would help me with my decision. I currently ride a Suzuki Bandit 600.
Cheers
Marc
One of my best friends rides a Bandit 600. A couple of weeks ago I stopped by on my Scrambler and let him take it out for a bit. After getting back he laughed and said his bike now feels super slow. He absolutely loved the Scrambler. He thought it was funny that the power difference was so dramatic, because they make about the same horsepower. I found a dyno graph of a Scrambler and a Bandit 600 and then scaled them for us to look at, and I still happen to have the file on hand (see below).
As you can see, there is a huge difference is in the torque. Not just in the amount, but where it falls in the across the whole meat of the power band. The hp curve is similar, except that the Scramblers is way lower in the revs, making it far more accessible in daily riding. The other difference is almost 100 pounds in weight. He won't get a Scrambler because I have one, but he loved it and it makes him want to get another Ducati (he used to have a 748).
He did mention that the Scrambler was way stiffer than his Bandit, but that it didn't turn him off. He just wondered if it would be as comfortable for commuting, which he does every day. To that I say I commute 70 miles every day on my Scrambler (every day it doesn't rain), and I love it.
