Mpg

I've done over 300 miles now and at the last fuel up calculated the mpg. I'm pleased to say it's 60.9, which means I should get around 180 to a full tank! :D This of course is running-in mpg but it's had a very varied riding up and down all the recommended revs (and occasionally a bit more oops), on dual carriageways, towns, stop/start, lots of country lanes, hills and bends. I haven't really been riding much slower than I would ordinarily.

It's more than I expected and hopeful it will stay around that figure!

Just ran out of gas today aften 252 km's, the engine stopped 1 km from the gasstation and i had to shake the tank a bit and then vent on just making it to the gasstation  :)

At least we know it's not a gas guzzler.

I am only getting 50mpg during the running in period. Have had the first service, and have done approx. 800 miles total. I am running in as specified in the manual.
My Icon is also red, so it's not the colour causing the mileage differential!

252km's = 153 miles. Pretty much what was expected. But it's also not surprising to see "littleowl" projecting 180 miles (which is getting close to 300km) using a gentle throttle hand.

No, probably due to the fact I love trundling around the countryside admiring the views which I couldn't do if I was riding it like I stole it . Not saying I ride like a granny but perhaps I'm a bit easier on the throttle ;), ALTHOUGH! I have probably been up around the higher end of running in revs than lower  - I got similar mpgs from my previous bikes, even 70 from one of them :D.

I'll see what it is once the run in period has passed .. ;)

hi simon, don't have mine yet. can you tell me what the first service interval is in miles? Thx:)
Thought it was 620?

It's 1000 km, which is about 621.4 miles. The manual says 1000 km/600 miles, but some people are saying that the service light won't come on until 621.4 miles.
First service is 650 miles
thank you:)
In an earlier post I said I'd update with some mpg figures:
Don't forget I'm in traffic most of the time and I'm enjoying the bike rather than trying to save fuel....
Also these figures are in imperial gallons ( not US)

127 miles /10:79 litres = 11:77 miles per litre.
Or 11:77 / 4:55 = 2:59 gallons. 127 / 2:59 = 49:03 mpg

108 miles /10 litres = 10:8 miles per litre
Or 10 / 4:55=2:2 gallons. 108 / 2:2=49 mpg

Basically I'm getting 49 mpg. I hope that's helpful to someone although mpg wouldn't have influenced my decision to buy the bike!

Pete
