Time to “hit the road” again!

Nice holiday weekend? Beautiful weather? Great roads? Yes sir, I’ll take it.

Heading out tomorrow morning for a quick “over-nighter” in the Catskills. We will be traveling on some great roads (photo above is just one of them, RTE 97 - “Hawks Nest” - in New York) on our way to one of our favorite destinations - Big Pond.

For those of you who are not familiar, this a remote area of the western Catskills, located south of the tiny hamlet of Margaretville, NY. It is a “primitive camping” only site, no amenities (or people, most of the time!) of any kind. There are a number of sites, some accessible only by paddling.

Just perfect for the kind of motorcycling travel that me and the new Ducati Scrambler will be doing.

We leave - bright and early - in the morning, Counting the hours...

Im insanely jealous. Right in the middle of a big camper remodel so no trips for me but I can live vicariously through your ride report!

Hope your trip is awesome. :)

That looks like so much fun. Who are you going with with? Friends? Wife? Solo?

A couple of long-time riding buddys on this one.

Bout time we saw the sun, we were riding in steady rain all day. But we are very close now.

Sometimes, riding all day in the rain is worth it...

Just got back...

350+ miles of awesome, but exhausting roads today. My butt will never be the same, look for an update as soon as I check myself out of the ER.

I would have wanted the Street Triple for the trip :)
Not me...

I'm not a huge fan of that bike. It's not that it's a triple, cause I like the modern ones (but the the motor on the Yamaha is better, IMO).

It's too "front-biased" for me - you feel like you are sitting directly over the front end all the time. And it's not particularly "comfy" either. True, your ass wont hurt like mine did, but that bike squeezes your nuts like no other - the sloping seat rams your junk into that tank constantly.

It's plenty fast, though, and the brakes & suspension are stellar.
