Some of you know that I ordered an Urban Enduro back in early November, then had to cancel about a month ago due to a cross-country move from Colorado to North Carolina.

Anyway, I called up Motorcycles of Charlotte to see if they would have any in late summer, and as I expected, it was a pretty emphatic "no." (Cue the violins.)

The dealer also told me that the 2015's would be a limited run, and once their allotment was sold, that would be it for this year, and we'll just have to wait until next year. He said, and I quote, "maybe they'll release the 2016's early."

It seems counterintuitive that Ducati would only send a limited number, with such a high demand. Does anyone have a sense of what production will be like this year?

Dealer told me they''ll be here in three stages. Stage one, orders from earlier months. stage 2 the next set of orders. stage 3 a potpourri of scramblers. more than likely 2 to 3 of each type. I epled wow, and he said that is how he got all of his others ducs throughout the years. maybe like that all over?

That would be a huge bummer if true! I know my local has 31 deposits on top of mine which already came, so I could definitely see how it would be difficult to fill that many orders especially if other shops are just as overwhelmed. It will be interesting to see when the non-Icon models start arriving in the US since Europe already has the others.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if that did that its creates a high demand for the bikes and gives the dealership a huge advantage especially with not coming of msrp and charging you every little nickel and dime for everything you put on it and over priced service for it because dealers are not around the corner especial in the mid west.

When I put down my deposit, back in December, my dealer told me they already had about 12 deposits (don't remember exact number) and mine was the second Urban Enduro. More recently, the actual salesman that I've known for many years told me that I'm the third deposit on ANY version. I know there have been more deposits made since mine in Dec, but I also know they've been grossly overstating their sales.

BTW, I've heard that the first wave is limited to a single bike per dealership, and that the other versions might be included in the second wave. I'm still undecided as to weather I should wait for my Urban Enduro, or just grab the 3dr Icon to show up locally.

Sounds like we're hearing all sorts of different things, then. Only time will tell.
Maybe. Has anyone heard of a US dealer that's gotten more than one bike? That's all I've noticed. They either sell a single customer bike, OR they have a demo...that would leave the second wave being multiple Icons, with the possibility of a sprinkling of other versions, or none of those till the third batch.

Anyone?

EDIT; Not being argumentative. Just wondering if anyone has seen anything (in the USA) other than an Icon, or been given a firm delivery date.

It is no different in the car industry. I purchased a Mercedes last winter and was also interested in an AMG model. The AMG allotment was sold out for the year. And they only had 3 non-AMG models of that car left for the year. The dealer is the second largest Mercedes dealer in the country after Manhattan Mercedes.

Similar Situation here in Germany.
Although we don't have it that far to italy...
First they will deliver the early orders and then "first come, first serve."
I do believe that the willcollect a few orders and send big containers to save overseas shipment though, this could be an explanation for example.

On the other side, Ducati had issues on the Spoke Wheel Models (UE and Classic) because they didn't have enough wheels...
Sorry to hear that you have to wait so long...
