I know you aren't asking to compare rates, but the first thing I'll say is that it's nearly impossible to compare rates with other people in any meaningful way. There so are many factors such as age, zip code, multiple policies, driving record, credit rating, what limits and deductibles you choose, and the list goes on — it's really just not realistic to compare individual rates. I would contact as many places as possible to compare rates for yourself.
I use State Farm, and they have been excellent. I've been with them for over 10 years. Their rates are very good, and when I've had to actually make any claims (home owners and auto so far), they have been fantastic to work with. It can be easy to find a cheap rate, but that doesn't mean they will stand behind you when the **** hits the fan. There will always be negative stores to go with the positive, but State Farm does have a good reputation.
I would also recommend going with a deductible that you can afford and don't go with the low limits for coverage. The price difference on a motorcycle between crappy 25/50 or 30/60 vs 100/300 isn't very much compared to getting sued. I know somebody that got sued, and lost, for tens of thousands of dollars for being underinsured.
Bearing in mind what I said above about comparing rates, year round insurance on the new Scrambler for me will be $24/month with a $500 deductible and 100/300 limits. I'm 38, have a clean driving record, good credit, and live in a suburb south of Minneapolis.
