I had an issue the other day when I stalled at a junction - I pulled in the clutch and thumbed the starter button but it would not restart and I had to paddle to the side of the road. Once I'd selected Neutral it was OK.

It seems that my Icon's starter motor is only enabled when the Neutral light is ON, despite the manual saying that you can start when in gear if you pull the clutch in.

Is mine the only one or are they all like that?

This is only a guess, but if the switch on the handlebars that "tells" the electronics that the clutch is disengaged isn't working properly it would cause this. These switches sometimes come loose and need pushing back into place.

Little hitches like that are frustrating in the least. Please post back and let us know how it goes.

I would not call it frustrating. A lot of new models have minor teething troubles and even models that have been out some time can have problems from the word go but in many cases any issues are dealt with quickly in my past experience.

Diagnosed now...

Thanks for the feedback!

I called my dealer, who was very helpful. As suggested, it's probably the microswitch on the clutch lever not working quite right. No doubt it will get sorted at the first service!

Its always good to wrap any switches with electrical tape to keep them from coming loose. Also helps to dust and water proof the switches. You can also add tie straps to tuck them away if some wires are exposed.

He's ordered a new clutch microswitch - but they are on back order, which implies, (he said) that the problem is perhaps common.

I had a bit of a fiddle with it; there are no obvious issues, it doesn't feel loose or anything. Also had a quick poke about the wiring loom by the headstock - again, nothing obvious.

So I'm just living with it until he gets the switch...

I noticed something today, there was a click sound when i pull the clucth lever, but now its gone. I think thats the thing which activates the starter.
