Hey everyone. I joined up after I decided to pull the trigger on a Scrambler. I hail from somewhere between the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and I've never owned a Ducati or a V engine bike.
I was bumming around on my converted-to-street TW200 late last summer and kept thinking to myself, "Self, this sure would be fun if this bike had any power." And I got to thinking about what bikes sort of scratch that itch. And the only new stuff I could come up with would be the Ossa 280 Explorer or the Ducati Scrambler. The Ossa is unobtanium and it's still not suited for highway use, so the Scrambler won by default. Honestly, my first thought was to save my money and buy a Suzuki DRZ400SM. But the seat height and butt comfort just aren't there. I'm too old for that stuff.
Here's my beloved '93 TW that went to a nice man who hopefully is enjoying it now.
I loved riding the TW but hated using it to get anywhere or go on the highway. So, as much as I loved it, I decided to sell it. I've been sitting around all winter sort of forgetting anything about motorcycles, but it warmed up last week and my passion was renewed for the year. I went out and put batteries back in the four bikes I still have at the moment and got everything fired up and ready to go for the season.
And then I remembered the Scrambler and how I wanted one. So now I'm on the waiting list for a red Icon model that hopefully will be here in May.
These are my other two motorcycles (I also have two 1970s Vespas, but that's a whole 'nother underworld.)
So once the Scrambler gets here, I should pretty much have the Tumblr Hipster Trifecta completed.
My first an only Italian motorcycle was a 1972 Benelli Tornado 650S. I traded it last summer for the blue BMW though. Both of us feel like we got a good deal there, I think.
Anyway, that's me.. Just a dude who likes to wrench as a hobby and bum around the rural route on dumb old motorcycles. I don't suspect the Scrambler is going to change that either. The Scrambler is the first bike I'll have ever bought new. I'm a huge cheapskate, but this is the first bike in over a decade that hit a bunch of the check marks on my imaginary list that's in my head. (The W650 was the former, back in 1999)
