Hey everyone. I joined up after I decided to pull the trigger on a Scrambler. I hail from somewhere between the Missouri and Mississippi rivers and I've never owned a Ducati or a V engine bike.

I was bumming around on my converted-to-street TW200 late last summer and kept thinking to myself, "Self, this sure would be fun if this bike had any power." And I got to thinking about what bikes sort of scratch that itch. And the only new stuff I could come up with would be the Ossa 280 Explorer or the Ducati Scrambler. The Ossa is unobtanium and it's still not suited for highway use, so the Scrambler won by default. Honestly, my first thought was to save my money and buy a Suzuki DRZ400SM. But the seat height and butt comfort just aren't there. I'm too old for that stuff.

Here's my beloved '93 TW that went to a nice man who hopefully is enjoying it now.

I loved riding the TW but hated using it to get anywhere or go on the highway. So, as much as I loved it, I decided to sell it. I've been sitting around all winter sort of forgetting anything about motorcycles, but it warmed up last week and my passion was renewed for the year. I went out and put batteries back in the four bikes I still have at the moment and got everything fired up and ready to go for the season.

And then I remembered the Scrambler and how I wanted one. So now I'm on the waiting list for a red Icon model that hopefully will be here in May.

These are my other two motorcycles (I also have two 1970s Vespas, but that's a whole 'nother underworld.)

So once the Scrambler gets here, I should pretty much have the Tumblr Hipster Trifecta completed.

My first an only Italian motorcycle was a 1972 Benelli Tornado 650S. I traded it last summer for the blue BMW though. Both of us feel like we got a good deal there, I think.

Anyway, that's me.. Just a dude who likes to wrench as a hobby and bum around the rural route on dumb old motorcycles. I don't suspect the Scrambler is going to change that either. The Scrambler is the first bike I'll have ever bought new. I'm a huge cheapskate, but this is the first bike in over a decade that hit a bunch of the check marks on my imaginary list that's in my head. (The W650 was the former, back in 1999)

Love your bikes as much as your story. Same here, first new bike. Went through 35 years from a Laverda SF to a Yamaha SR500 and after trying the yellow icon 2 weeks ago I was lost and drove out of the shop with the red that was immediately available. I promise you, the other bikes will be seriously jealous and you will have cramps in your cheeks from stupidly grinning like me ...

That's my hope is that the bike is fun. Basically a street legal flat tracker or something that feels similar to riding a big 1970s Enduro like a Yamaha DT400.

I love the high, wide bars and the low slung seat.

From reading all of the hateful reviews on ADV rider and Ducati forums, I am still pretty sure I'll like it because I'm not tall enough to be too big for the bike and I ride retro and vintage bikes already so I won't be missing out on dual disk brakes and Ohlins suspension.

Here's a photo of my W and R90. Edited now with no license plates.

When you're used to 'old' something like the Scrambler probably feels like a rocket ship on rails.

The hateful reviews of the Scrambler seem to have nothing to do with the motorcycle itself. The negative reaction seems to come from Ducati loyalists who are concerned the Scrambler is taking the Ducati brand further away from the exotic premium super bike branding and towards a generalist motorcycle manufacturer like Honda which panders to the "masses". They will be really upset if Ducati releases a scooter, as has been rumored.

People hate being called hipsters from what I have noticed. I'm just honest with myself. I've owned fast motorcycles and can't obey the law and will quickly end up in jail if you throw me on an Aprilia Tuono or something similar.

I like comfort and upright seating and NOT forward controls. My favorite street bikes have been 2 stroke enduros. But they're just not intended for highway use.

I do think that the looks of it might start to bore me, but I got it to replace a TW200, so it already looks nicer. Oddly enough they both have 180 rear tires, haha.

This is true. I've loved Jeeps since '91 and when the Unlimited 4 door came out I had to have it. Everyone who was a "true Jeep person" knew that Jeeps were two door, etc. They also claimed that back when Wranglers had square headlights. The Scrambler brand is going to create a new segment, as the $ door wrangler did. Everyone in Detroit's R&D departments is trying to come up with something to compete against it currently. The 4 door Wrangler is a big part of what brought Chrysler back before the merger.

Same here. I knew I would be dead within 90 days if I ever bought a crotch rocket when I was younger, way to addicted to speed.
