Hey guys, I just got my low mount about a week ago and I want to see what it sounds like with the baffles removed. The thing is I have no idea how to do that, has anyone done it that would be willing to share their knowledge? It's too new for me to start ripping at things and I don't want to do it if I can never put it back in.

Thanks!

The db killers are held in with circlips and can be removed with long needle nose pliers. Make sure your pliers are small enough to fit between the inner and outer flange and circlip holes. They do make a special tool for these clips but mine wouldn't fit while my needle nose pliers worked great.

Never mind, I feel like an ass. I can’t believe that comes out of there. This Pipe sounds good and loud if I pull that out it will be like a track bike and that’s if they don’t have sound restrictions. I tell you, it is funny to see the look on faces when people realize the V Twin sound that is coming from this bike.

I prefer the sound with them in and a little extra back pressure helps with torque as well. You will notice that the db killers rotate within the exhaust from vibration and it will look odd as they will then point in different directions. I removed mine to apply high temperature gasket sealant on the backside to help lock them in place, I have had zero movement since doing this.

It takes a bit of fiddling as they can be quite tight.
The long noes pliers into the two eyelets of the cir-clip, squeeze gently and you may be able to get one side to pop out, then it's easier to get the whole thing out.
When i first did mine, it took maybe an hour of fluffing around before I got it.
Sound is pretty good, but I ended up putting in the larger diameter DB killers, still sounds crazy, but I just don't go deaf after 30 mins on the bike

oh, great thanks man! I did actually get as far as fitting the pliers in the eyelets...and was able to move the circlip a little bit...I was tempted to get one side out...but worried it would mess things up...so ok, I'll try that....I know what you mean about the deafening sound though! But in my case, Having ridden a Sportster with short drag pipes for 4 years, I'm already half deaf, and really need to hear my Scrambler a bit more! :D:D
