So i have been living in the states for the past 6 years on a work visa and its been a fun ride, i have enjoyed the many friends i have made while living in San Antonio TX and the awesome vibe this city and country has. But now its time to say goodbye, its official im moving back to my home country. The best part of the story is the company i work for transferred me to Merida Yucatan which is in the Yucatan peninsula and a 3 hour ride to Cancun and Tulum. Tons of dual sport roads to explore and seems like the perfect city to enjoy the scrambler.

I had originally placed an order with Ducati of San Antonio but after finding out from my customs agent that my bmw would cost 4k to import to Mexico i decided to pull my deposit from the scrambler since it would probably cost more. I originally had a delivery date of mid July and i decided to call my home town Ducati dealer in Monterrey Mexico and found they had a FT available on may 25th which has my name and my money on it. Picking her up on the 25th and i will be riding her to San Antonio since i leave in November to Merida.

Here is a little preview of the place i will be moving to and why im so exited (All of this stuff is less than a 3 hour ride from Merida) took them on my last trip there. Pictures are continued on first 3 posts.

That's like winning the lottery, Twice!
I have to agree, i cant wait to get down there again. Im leaving next week to look at houses. If you guys ever plan a motorcycle trip to southern Mexico i would be glad to show you around and take you out for a ride. Holbox island is amazing and its only a 2 hour ride from Merida, the best thing about that place is the streets are sand paved ;).

There's actually a good chance I'll be heading your way in December with a couple of "girlfriends" ;)

A friend is planning to ride her CRF250L to Tierra del Fuego for her 70th birthday (yes, SEVENTY) and a couple of us might be going part way with her. The girls will be on 250 dual sports, and I'll be on my new F800GSA

On that one i landed with my feet on the seccond one it was actually worse when the water got into my shorts and was almost force fed though my arse.

Welcome Home Paisano!

Saludos
Gracias Paisano!

What part of Mexico are you in?

BTW guys, looks like the dealer in Mexico i placed an order with could only confirm delivery until July which is too close to my daughters birth date so i ended up keeping an ICON that will be arriving by the end of May.

I live in the campo outside of San Miguel de Allende. Pretty soon, I am supposed to pick up the Classic that I put a deposit on back in January with the Ducati dealer in Guadalajara. It was the first Classic deposit at that dealership. Good to see some more folks down here.

2 years ago spent some time in Merida and then went over to Tulum for 8 days. A Scrambler would have been great in Tulum...

I think you will be fine with the inseam, its a pretty low bike. It feels even lower than my monster. :D

What is your ETA on delivery? Ducati of Monterrey is supposed to get my bike late May early June and its one of the first ones on the list. Supposedly my dealer said that Mexico Scramblers have been delayed sitting at the port of Veracruz. Cheers brother.

The ETA WAS this week, but I was also told things are being held up a little.
The dealer and I agreed that I will wait a week or two in any case due to the violent action in Guadalajara by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel last week. :( (this is something the rest of the world would not factor into the plan to pick up a Ducati )
My plan is to take delivery, and then stay in the Guadalajara area piling on some kilometers for 2 days, get the 1000 k service and then ride it the 350 k back to San Miguel de Allende area.

Yep Jalisco is under fire sadly. I really hope Ducati of Mexico can hurry the **** up.

Amazing pictures! I will definitely have to take a trip there. Food looks out of this world. Seafood lovers dream :)
For sure man, i can recommend some good places down there. If you like water and outdoor activities the whole yucatan peninsula has a bunch of stuff to explore. And yes the seafood is really out of this world, fresh of the boat and to your plate.
