Starting a thread on this as I'm sure many a Full Throttle pre-order customer is wondering: Is there any way to open up the Full Throttle Termi Exhaust to make it louder?

I haven't heard it in person (have seen a bunch of videos) but it definitely has more restriction that a true aftermarket unit would. The prototype I saw at the bike show looked like it had baffles in it that could be removed pretty easily.

Would be great for any FT owners to comment on anything they've tried (or if anyone has taken the slip on off to see if there's any way to mod it).

I'm getting mine in 3 weeks and will report back if it doesn't get covered by current owners before then.

Its possible it may be a standard one grafted on to by Termignoni as looks like they are slip on covers but obviously sounds better. I don't know for sure but looks like it still has the bladder like OEM to the side. Heres a stock one off mine.

I like the look of the FT exhaust and don't need another loud bike so I'm hoping lots of Full Throttle owners want more noise and these start turning up on ebay for reasonable prices :)

Also from what I've seen modified stock mufflers always sound like crap unless its done by a professional exhaust shop with the right baffling etc.

How people like their bikes to sound is about as subjective a topic as there is in motorcycling so "always sound like crap" may be overstating it (have faith!). I've been surprised by what a little cross-drilling of stock exhaust baffles can do to get the sound to be different. Whether louder = better or different = good is a whole other question.

We need someone to be the first to cut into the stock muffler in order to devise an internal baffle & cat bypass. Any volunteers?
As soon as I take delivery of the bike (ETA ~2.5 weeks?), I'll give it a go if no one else has.

You're right, that was a bit of an opinionated overstatement. If people are happy with there bikes sound thats all that really matters. I've only heard short youtube snippets of the Full Throttle exhaust so would you mind taking decent before and after videos before you attack it with the angle grinder.

700 kms into the Full Throttle and have been examining the exhaust for possible mods.

The verdict is that it's going to be pretty difficult to make any effective mods without some serious investment of time, but that moreover, it has a really sweet sound already and doesn't really need any modding IMO.

If I ever end-up wanting it to be louder, then a de-cat slip on like the Akra pipe would be a solid contender.

Also, anything done to the Termi that would change the sound would also likely affect back-pressure (and fueling) so I'm in no hurry to mess with it.

450 miles on a Full Throttle in Milwaukee, home of Harley Davidson, here. I get plenty of people turning around to look as I approach at all speeds. They wouldn't do so if the bike wasnt making noise impressive enough compared to the standard HD. It may not sound as loud to me due to wind in my ears, but it's definitely loud enough to catch folk's attentions. There's some bass to it!

I was at the show room on Wednesday and a chap picked his FT up and it sounded no louder than the normal Icon/Classic stock but did sound raspier if that makes sense. Akrapovic are about to launch there version of that exhaust very soon.

I own a Full Throttle and have riden the Icon and the Full Throttle is definetly louder and the sound is makes when you lay off the throttle or down shift is music to the ears, it makes a great back burble almost everytime. It is not super loud but to me is a perfect balance, such a great sounding machine.

At almost 1000 kms, I am also noticing that it has gotten a little louder and the "burble" on over run/decel is more pronounced...probably from the cat and exhaust packing wearing in. This may well be the first Ducati I own that doesn't get an "aftermarket" de-cact exhaust. Very impressed.
