So yesterday I put a deposit down on the only Full Throttle Nashville is getting! I love everything about the bike aside from the yellow... I'd rather it just be all black. I plan on getting some black side panels and maybe having them vinyled with the 80s style Duc logo. I am wondering if anybody here knows if I'd be able to remove the yellow from the seat though, I've heard of people using heat to accomplish this but I wouldn't know how to go about that process.

Having seen the seat, I can pretty much guarantee that peeling the yellow off it will not result in something most owners would be happy with.

If you really want something nice, just get the seat re-covered. The FT seat is an easy one to do. Just find a local upholstery shop if you're not in touch with your inner Martha Stewart and it shouldn't cost you more than $150 (material and labor -material dependent)

This might be too ghetto for your taste, but Krylon, Rust-O-Leum, and Dupli Color make vinyl spray paint and I can attest to it working well to bond with vinyl and cover up coloring if you're wanting to paint it black. It'll hold up for years, especially since it's not an area where you'll be rubbing against. Just mask it off and spray it on carefully. It bonds to the vinyl so it's not able to be removed afterwards if you want to go back.

Otherwise, yes, I plan on investigating re-covering my seat if I end up not liking it by duplicating the OEM pattern for a new seat cover. The Full Throttle seat is a bit more complicated to pattern than the Icon seat in terms of copying it in different colors of vinyl. But any upholstery place worth their salt would be able to do it. I mess with upholstery as a hobby and that seat cover doesn't really scare me. There's some narrow turns in the seams that would be a pain in the butt to sew (and have it turn out symmetrical,) but professionals shouldn't mess it up.

Perfect timing for this post, I was going to eventually buy a FT seat for my yellow Icon, if you are interested in a trade let me know.

The production units are completely different from the ones on the bikes that were doing the show circuit earlier this year. The stitching looks like it's high-quality and I don't see any signs of where it would give way quicker than any other Ducati seat
