Full throttle handle bars

I'm sure many guys purchasing the Icon models are looking to change the standard icon bars to full throttle bars. Has anyone any idea of the equivalent full throttle bars by say Renthal. As the full throttle bars by Ducati are nearly £90.

Why are you so sure many want to do that?
They are describes as an "Aluminium Tapered Handlebar". So they will be 1 7/8" (28.6mm) at the clamps tapering to 1 1/8" (22.2mm) at the grips.
Take your pick from these : Renthal - Fatbar®
I've checked the diameter on the Icon by gage and the handle bar is 22mm fixed
Thanks Derek, just from speaking with people who have ordered and my personal opinion. Just something about the icon bars I'm not sold on.

I'm exactly the same about the icon bars. It's one of the first changes I'll be doing as it's also one of the cheapest along with the mirrors. The flat bars look better and I'm wanting a slightly sportier position than standard anyway.

Me neither. I've ordered my Classic with the lower bars from the Full Throttle. I guess I could have just got it as is and bought a pair of suitable Renthals but there is only £20 or so in it and for a new bike I thought what the ****.
I am curious how much more reach they require. Hard to say from photos. Have a plate and pins in elbow restricting my arm straighting...

Yeah I think I will do the same if there's not much of a difference
FT Bars

Bit extreme, but after sitting on the Icon the bars were one of the reasons I went for the Full Throttle in the end.

Obviously could have just changed bars but the overall racier styling got me.
Pro Taper offers a $75 bar with lots of variation in bend. See chart:

Contour | Pro Taper

I personally like the Carmichael bend and will probably get that since it fits the 22mm clamp. If it did not Pro Taper also makes clamps for conversions.

I have loads of experience crashing with Pro Taper bars. None bent.

So if you go to full throttle bars on an Icon, do you have to buy the clamps as well to cater for the extra 6.4mm diameter?

I could be wrong. :(
did you find an answer to this question? seems cheaper to just go with the FT ones. no worries for 20 more dollars...
FT handlebar is not a direct fit to other models. You will need a new clamp unit, which is not on sale yet and will probably cost around 200$ :)
My dealer told me the FT bar came with the clamps, it's a kit, for around 100€.
He seemed pretty sure.
I have set of FT bars ordered for my Classic. If they need a set of clamps at another 200$ they'll be going back!

İf thats true, thats a real bargain :)
Very unlikely since the clamps are integrated with the instrument holder. Detailed description with photos in the other thread http://www.ducatiscramblerforum.com...sion/5137-full-throttle-bars-5.html#post68394
My dealer said that the clamps almost certainly do not come with the FT bars. Proably the cheapest way to convert to 28mm taper bars is via a bar converter at about £50, plus the price of the bars.

But, I was even tighter than that and just fitted some standard 22mm Renthal Medium Rise Road Bars. Adding those and heated grips cost less than the price of FT bars on their own. :)
