Hi there,

I have about 1000 miles on my new Scrambler Classic. I bought it up in Minnesota but hauled it down to my current location in northern New Mexico (think: southern Colorado.... high rockies alpine/desert environment). I'm not sure why this is happening, perhaps it is a function of the washboarded dirt road I live on, or somehow my high elevation (7,800 ft), but my fuel reserve gauge will come on, start its regular counting, get to 0.1mi, 0.2mi, etc, then suddenly I'll look down and it restarts at 0.0. I've noticed it happens when I'm on the dirt road, or when I make a stop from going say, 60 mph, down to make a left turn. Do you think the gas is sloshing around in the tank just confusing the system? I ride lots of mountain roads, too... could the angle of the roads be setting it off and on again?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I notice that on mine.

What happens a lot is, I'll start the bike on the side-stand and the gas light will be on. After riding for a few minutes, it will go away. It will kick on for good in the next 5-25 miles typically.

I'm guessing the sensor gets "tripped" probably due to lowish gas level and some other environmental factors and then the conditions change and it shuts off.

edit: In other words, yes I do think it's probably just getting confused by the gas moving around, as you said.

Yap... gas shifting in the tank.. causing the indicator to go on/off repeatedly

that's how I got stranded for the very first time 2 months back, as I was estimating at least 70KM to a complete dry tank... (4L reserve... about 20KM/L)

but it went completely dead at about 57KM (reserve light on)... filled her up with 13.3L in the end

So when it goes on for the very first time, look for station :)
