Now that there are officially some Full Throttle owners out there, I’d like to ask about the exhaust, which appears to be the main benefit that isn’t only cosmetic. Does it sound different (ideally better) than the Icon? From my understanding, they’re just slip-ons. If that’s true, does that also mean there is no performance enhancement? Again, if that’s true, what’s the extra $1,500 cost for?

I’m kind of wanting to be sold on it, so any owners are welcome to chime in!

I am #1 on the list with my deposit down and it should be coming any day now, but besides just looks, I want to make sure I’m not just paying an extra $1,500 for nothing. Aesthetically, I like the Icon too, so I wouldn’t consider it a downgrade. The only downfall going to the icon would mean I’d be at the end of the list and would have to wait even longer.

Any insight is appreciated!

They are basically slip-ons and while they are reportedly somewhat louder, my understanding is that they don't increase performance. They still have the big muffler and cat hidden under the swingarm like the exhaust on the Icon. The other "race" Termi pipe removes both of those and includes a reflash.

I think the extra money for the Full Throttle goes more to the combination of items than any one, with the seat and bars being the items that would most change the riding experience versus the Icon.

I would never buy the FT over the Icon just for the exhaust. The standard scrambler exhaust does not sound half as bad as people make out. It will do me until I find a legal twin pipe design that has removable baffles and will certainly sound better then the FT one and be cheaper. I went for the Icon so I have cash to upgrade rear shock or whatever else which I would not be able to do due to budget if I went for any other model than an Icon. Just as well the red is the colour I wanted.

No one can really advise you regarding the sound as your expectations are likely different so you will need to listen for yourself and decide if that is the bike for you

Ok, I've heard about these "race" Termi pipes a couple times now and until now, assumed they were talking about the FT exhaust. Where do these race pipes come into play? This is above and beyond what FT has obviously, so is it after market?

This is the "Racing" exhaust that deletes the cat and larger muffler, and comes with the remap: Termignoni Ducati Scrambler Racing Slip-on Exhaust: 96480681A. Note that it isn't "street legal" because of those things. It also has a removable baffle to give you too volume options.

This is the "slip-on" that comes as standard on the Full Throttle. It has the muffler and cat, and looks better in my eyes: Termignoni Ducati Scrambler Slip-on Exhaust: 96480671A

Rounding out the Termi lineup, there's this high pipe - if you really have money burning a hole in your pocket and you'd like a pipe to burn a matching hole in your thigh: Termignoni Ducati Scrambler High-Mount Full Exhaust: 96480691A

I really appreciate the clarification! Again, I thought that the Full Throttle came with the better exhaust system. I thought I recall back when they first announced it that the Full Throttle would come with aftermarket exhaust that would need to be dealer installed, hence the price increase. Sounds like that's not the case at all and that it's just a completely separate $1,300 cost, right?

Bummer. Now leaning more towards getting an Icon and adding to it later. But it puts me in the back of the line...

I first ordered the FT and finally change my deposit and bought a yellow Icon.

3 reasons why I was first getting the FT

1- Black Color
2- Lower handlebar
3- termi exhaust

I didnt really like the seat and was planning to change it

By ordering the Icon model I saved 1650$ ( 1500$ + taxes )

I changed the handlebar for a full throttle one ( 200$ )
I plastydip myself the icon cause I hate yellow ( 80 $ )

I Still have 1370$ to :

buy a nice after market exhaust when I will have more options
Do a proper paint job any color I want
Change flashers and mirrors
Buy a comfort seat

I'm happy I bought the icon

It all depends on what you are gonna do to an Icon in my opinion. If you want the FT seat, exhaust and bars, get the FT. If you don't want all that, get the Icon. If you just want the FT seat and bars, the the Icon and change what you want. But, if you want the FT exhaust, get the FT.

Having had the bike since last Saturday I have to say that the Stock Exhaust is not all that bad on the sound side, quiet yes but it makes the right type of quiet. Legal aftermarket exhausts are not goung to up the power so that you notice it and in most cases will make it worse.
So I personally will stay with the stock until an aftermarket comes along at a reasonable price and that screams buy me.
In the mean time I am buying everything else to my Wifes horror

Hi scrambletown,
Lets look at it as money NOT being part of the equation:
My view is this. The FT looks aggressive with a slightly louder exhaust note than Icon. buy this for its edgy looks and slightly sportier riding stance

The Icon, looks great on its own. Looks retro not mean at all, IMO. More comfy riding stance. And, $$ left over for the after market exhaust that will blow the socks off of the FT exhaust. Look at sc project for something pretty **** cool. without question. try you tube.

I am getting the classic, but I am getting the termi exhaust. for ME...the termi sound is something I've always wanted. the sensation is indescribable. I don't know if the termi "fits" the classic scrambler according to most folk...even myself. But i cannot help it, cant describe the desire. 0:)
When I had an 848, I cheaped out and got the Leo vince, which sounded great but did not typify the "ducati" sound that I realized too late that I wanted. when at the shop, i'd hear other 848s 1098s etc. and wish that I had gone for it. ahhh ragrets.

I don't know if all of this helps. Just trying to be as honest as I can. I have kids and can only own one bike at a time (a stretch as it is)no Porches in the garage to impress from this guy! so I have to make sure it is right this time! ;) :DIf you get a moment, love to know what your thinking, deciding.

That's good to know that I won't be missing out on too much. Thanks for the response!

I'm still debating with myself. At this point, it has more to do with when I can get the bike then how much it costs now. One the one hand, I want to save the money and get an Icon, but on the other it would require me having to wait until past September. I could get the Full Throttle this week when it comes in for me as I'm first on the list.

If I had my choice of bikes, I think I would go with the Icon and then upgrade with the extra money I saved, but my impatience is getting the better of me right now. Almost to the point where I've thought about getting another bike if I can't get an Icon! I would just hate to get the Full Throttle and feel regretful is all. I won't have much dough to add to it either.

I will give you my two pence worth of opinion as somebody that has a FT but was thinking of changing to an Icon and doing exactly as everybody has suggested above ie saving the money getting an after market exhaust and re painting.

Is the exhaust worth 1300? No but in my mind its the best looking exhaust by far and really suits the bike.
Do I want performance gain, no I would of gone for a Monster 821 instead.
Does it sound good, the videos dont do it any justice at all, its snarls and pops instead of the roar of the slip on Termi. I love the sound of the full Slip on but you really need to like loud pipes as it is VERY loud. I love the sound of the shot gun exhaust and its easy to live with and its about a loud as a legal exhaust can be.

The seat is by far better from a comfort point of view than the standard Icon seat. I rode an Icon the other day with the same mileage as my bike and the seat was still like a brick, it could be all in my mind but the FT seat has broken in and I have no issues with it now.
The paint job on the FT is far more aggressive looking than either Icons and I prefer it by far.
The bars are better for me as I felt the others were too high and are a bit more sportier.
I dont feel short changed in my decision and am glad I went with the FT, a lot of people are writing off the sound of the shotgun exhaust based on video recordings I have heard all three in the flesh it really does sound v good and aggressive nowhere near as loud as the slip on slip on but a lot more aggressive than the standard exhaust.

That is a tough decision. YOu know what, maybe get together with the Ft folk on here to see what they think about their FT. From what Ive seen, they love it. I don't think you'd be disappointed, they are BEAUTIFUL!
Best wishes from California, where I'm still awaiting my classic! :crying:
