Anyone wrapped their exhaust yet, if so do you have any pictures or advice on fitment?

What's the general thoughts on this, anyone have any reason not to wrap an exhaust? I personally like the look of it and I know it will lower radiant heat from the pipes, that's gotta be a good thing right

I've wrapped the headers/pipes on a few bikes. It definitely reduces heat and the only real drawback some people find is that the wrap can cause premature wear on the pipe by trapping moisture in certain conditions.

From a "how-to" POV, there are several really good YouTube tutorials but the long and short of it is:

1) wet the heat wrap before applying (literally throw the roll of heat wrap in a bucket of water and let soak for 1/2 hr before beginning)

2) wrap it as tightly as possible with enough overlap between the layers so that no metal is exposed. There are different sizes (widths) and colours of exhaust wrap. Smaller is generally easier. The Scrambler's pipes are not very large diameter so even more reason to use one of the smaller sizes.

3) Secure it to the exhaust with safety wire and pliers on each end. When done correctly, the wire is invisible. Some people use clamps but it isn't as clean visually.

The first few times you ride with the heat wrap on, it's going to smoke a lot and smell like burning cat fur. This is normal and should subside after a few routine outings.

Hope that helps.

Thanks that should help me out! I think I will wrap it, I just fitted a new muffler and had to fabricate a link pipe that I'll have to paint to prevent rust. Wrapping I believe will be the best way of hiding it!
I will however have to wait until after the 1st service because the oil strainer/screen needs the exhaust off to access it

Here's the new muffler for anyone interested. It sounds awesome now and picks up much smoother at low revs.

Most people I know have moved to ceramic coating their pipes. Do it inside and out, really cuts down on heat transfer, and you can generally get a couple of colour finishes.
I bet there might be potential for more color finishes in the future if there aren't already. Especially with the growing amount of riders with the types of new bikes that have been coming to market and with cagers considering going for 2 wheels :D

@DJKham has pretty much nailed the topic. FWIW, I recently did the Thermotec wrap on my Scrambler exhaust pipes and followed it up with the Thermotec spray. It's a fairly easy job and I didn't find any major issues. Emitted heat has certainly reduced although not completely gone away.

I went for the spray later because the Thermotec wrap smells not only the first time but every time the wrap gets wet. The spray definitely helps in reducing the smell in wet riding conditions. In my locale, a few splashes here and there are unavoidable even when one is trying not to ride in the rain during the season.

Thermotec also sells the stainless steel cable ties or clamps so my recommendation too is to go for the steel cable ties if you want a discreet installation. This is a hindsight recco. since I forgot to order the cable ties & went with the clamps instead.

How much heat wrap did you end up using? I have 25 feet of titanium wrap from DEI but I don't want to start the project unless I know I have enough..

Thats gunna vary based on how wide a wrap you use and how much overlap you create. My reco: buy a new roll to avoid disappointment part-way through and don't use the wider variety or it wont work as well around the bends + wont look as good (if cafe is the look you are after). Post up some pics if u end-up doing it. Would like to see it.

Will do - I'm hoping to get it installed in the next week or so. I'll post pics when it's done.

I talked to ducati and they said installing a new seal around the exhausts isn't really necessary given how new the bike is and that they're made of metal. Replacements are only like $7 for anyone that is wondering so if it's leaking its no problem to replace them

I read that the Titanium wrap doesn't need to be wet before installation and also that doesn't need the spray afterwards, true?

Did somebody used the spray a part from @outofthebox ?
It it really that necessary? i do not have it :(
