Exhaust Removal

So, I want to remove the entire exhaust system for ceramic coating. Anyone done it? How hard is it? Any pointers, tips or even better, a step by step procedure with pictures?

do you need to remove the seat to get to the vertical head exhaust manifold? one of the screws seems to be very hard to unscrew without.
No mention of removing the seat, but I did find a few more steps to removing the silencer assembly a few pages down:

Thanks for the pics. Spent an afternoon trying to replace exhaust (see also http://www.ducatiscramblerforum.com...849-termignoni-racing-high-mount-sound-3.html ).

Do not underestimate the location of part no. 2.
Awesome, thanks for that. Although I kinda had all this figured from just looking at it. The under seat portion looks to be the hardest part and was wondering if the seat and sub-frame have to coma apart for removal. I will photograph and document the procedure when I do it, eventually.

Think I will call the service guys at Ducati and ask them about what they do for removal. Of course, the bike is so new, they have probably not done it yet.
Yeah I suppose the pictures only help in reconfirming what one can figure out by visual inspection. No hidden magic tricks required.

That said, any pics or tips when you get around to taking out yours will be appreciated. I'm still some time away from performing this 'surgery'. Have parked it till I complete the first service.
What's the benefit of the ceramic coating that you want to apply?

Last one is a bit subjective, but IMO satin black looks infinitely better than random patches of blue, violet and other hues on OEM metal finish.

Agreed with all, and it is my intention to get them in Satin Black. Luckily for me, the down time should only be a week or so since the ceramic coating place for me is local-ish and I can drop off and pick up. Also save a few bucks on shipping. I am also going to get the heat shrouds on the muffler done as well.

Just mounted a Zard full system and it took me 45 min. With the Zard you dont have to remove the last rear pipe attached to the cylinder. This saves time. If you would need to remove that pipe you need to lift the bike and detatch the rear suspension and push up the battery box to get room to switch the pipe. More work and time spent. Sounds nice IMO. Took out the db killers.

Motochief.
So did you end up removing the pipe.
Im keen to get a ceramic coating myself but that last nut looks to be a real pain.
Any tips for making it easier?
