I've done a few 300-500 km days on the FT and often get sore during the last part of the ride. Nothing wrong with the bike or the ergonomics, just been sitting and shifting my weight around for a long time and generally sore from working hard.

During my latest outing, I found myself on some boring super slab and began experimenting with different positions on the bike to stretch out. That led me to finding what I believe to be a brilliant stretch position: sitting on the passenger seat, arms extended to the bars and with feet on the passenger foot pegs! It's almost like being in a yoga style downward dog stretch while riding and in complete control. And yes, it looks completely strange but for the amount of relief it gives, I honestly don't care.

I found that it really allowed me to stretch my back out and use my legs to relieve some of the pressure from my backside, where the pressure tends to build up because the riding position is so upright.

The reason I say this stretch is for tall riders is that you need relatively long arms to effectively reach the handlebars when you are sitting on the passenger (pillion) seat but if you are around 6' like me, this works really well.

Anyhow...thought I would share.

Excellent idea! I have stretched a bit by placing my bum on the pillion seat but haven't come to the idea of putting my feet on the pillion foot pegs. Will definitely try that out. Just wont be able to shift gears or use the rear brake but since it's only for stretching that should be fine.
