It comes as a bit of a surprise, but the Ducati 899 Panigale topped the UK registrations list in December. That means that the bike sold more units than many bikes that cost about a fifth of the price.

For example, the Honda CBF 125 commuter sells for 2,600 pounds while the 148 bhp 899 costs 12,495 pounds.

Much of the success is attributed to the "entry" version of the hyper-performance Panigale range, the 899.

I wonder if the release of the Scrambler will have a similar effect on Ducati's sales.

My first thought when i read this was makes sense.

The way i figure is december s a typically slow time for sales considering the nasty weather and all. BUT with the panigale fresh out people wanted to get their hands on it. So you had typically low deamnd for this time of year but unusually high demand for the panner...

perfect storm :D

I think that this makes perfect sense. People aren't lining up to buy cheaper bikes or older models, but when a bike is brand new people want to be one of the first to get their hands on it.

We will have to see if Ducati can continue the trend for more than just one month.

Yea I'm not sure it will be as big a hit right out the gate because it is a brand new model, but it should see consistent sales at first I think. I just don't see people who already have Ducatis buying this bike. I think it is going to be more for conquest.

agreed.

lets hope the Scrambler will be something along that line. I would not be very happy if it was just a cheaper Monster with lower CC.

I want it to be Scrambler styled. Similar performance to Monster. A tad bit cheaper would be nice. Or same price..
