Hi guys,
i'm still waiting for my Icon; at today there is not a delivery date prevision and i'm loosing my patience.
I'm thinking about other solutions, because i really like Triumph Scrambler too!
I found an italian Triumph dealer which make some beautiful special bikes.

This is the special from this Dealer:

Vendo Triumph Scrambler (2006 - 15) nuova a Livorno (codice 6088315) - Moto.it

The price i got after a negotiation is 11200€ for the bike exactely as the one in the pictures (exept for the tank, because i prefer the original one)
It's a really good price, considering the bike costs around 10000€ full original

What do you think about it?
Do you like it?

The Triumph Scrambler is a great looking bike. One of the best rivals to the Ducati Scrambler so i think that you'd be happy with it. If you buy that bike will you be able to get it immediately, or will you end up having to wait around for it just like you are with the Ducati Scrambler?

I'd also push your dealer to see if he can give you more information on a delivery date. If you like the Ducati Scrambler better, then you should wait for it unless it is going to take a ridiculous amount of time. If you like the Triumph better though, just go for it.

You're right Francesco,
Ducati is better in everything!
Thats why i chosen this model intead of the Triumph.
I just should be able to wait without strange thoughts...but it's hard because there is not an extimated date for delivery!
There are people worldwide which have indications about shipping, but me in Italy i can't be able to know anything about the bike arrival!
That's absurd and frustrating!

There is no simple answer that anyone else can give, as it depends so much on what you really want.

It also, inevitably, depends to some degree on whether you have any fixed or semi-fixed biking plans for early summer, which might have to be shelved if the wait goes on for too much longer.

What I would say though, in my experience (bearing in mind that there was no appealing alternative to the Ducati for me), was that the memory of the pain soon receded altogether once I was told that the bike was on its way, and then, a week and a day later, when I rode it away from the dealers.

My wait was a day under seven weeks, for a yellow Icon in the UK. (Order placed 22 Jan, bike picked up 11th March.) By the end of February I was getting very frustrated and not a little miserable, as I so wanted the bike for my birthday on the 15th of March, and I still had no firm information at all. So I went and had a friendly face to face chat with the dealer, explaining that I'd at least like to know whether my birthday plans should include a Scrambler in my garage

They promised to do their utmost to at least find out and, if at all possible, get the bike there in time. They came up trumps! :D

All the frustration is just a distant memory now, and I imagine that it will be for you, once your Scrambler finally arrives. :)

Good luck with whatever you do decide on :)

Thank you guys,
your words are a comfort for my frustration!
I placed my order the March 9th, so i'm waiting from almost 2 months.
As i told you, it's not just the waiting, i can tolerate it...but it's knowing anything about the delivery date!
I'm in touch with the Dealer and i personally called Ducati two times, but no one can tell me anything about the arrival!
And then, after the arrival i have to wait another week, at least, for the licence plate and the insurance! :|
I hope to receive it very soon!!!
Enjoy your bikes, guys!

Ordered red icon on March 31 from plymouth U.K. was told delivery before end of April. Now moved to possibly June with no firm delivery date plus after a phone around of local dealers the rumour of nothing till September.

My vote is both. I would want both of them.

I've already got two simple, old style bikes so I've never had room in the garage for a Triumph Bonneville. The Ducati fills a more sporty slot.

The Scramblers are really nice bikes and are pretty reliable. I have nothing bad to say about them other than that I think they're about 100 pounds heavier than they really need to be. They're really good looking and the parts on them seem to be made of nice materials.

Honestly, I don't see the two bikes being anything alike when comparing machine to machine. Concept to concept, they will get compared though.

But the Ducati Scrambler should be compared to a Suzuki SV650, the Monster, of course, and the Yamaha FZ-07 if you're doing a machine to machine comparison.

The Long wait

I put my deposit down last year 26, November. (red Icon) no word until two days ago. Dealer said the bike was in transit by truck. Yesterday he said come get it Saturday. Total, 4 and 3/4 months with no estimate. Plus, I sold my only street bike in December! No bike after 42 years. Now that it will be over tomorrow, I feel like it was worth the wait, but I had doubts several times.

7 weeks...2 months...I put my deposit down on October 9th, 2014 and literally knew nothing about a delivery date or when I'd see it in the flesh until one week ago! It was 6.5 months from order to delivery in my case, so I'd say you should not get too frustrated considering how many orders have been placed long, long ago for these bikes with no word on when they'll come in. I know Icons are showing up quite a bit now, so hopefully their supply will be fulfilling orders. From what I've heard (in the US at least) is that FT and Classics will be coming next then the UE towards the end of the summer.

FWIW even though I think the Triumph is cool looking, it's slower, heavier and more expensive, but it's apparently more off road worthy. To me I think the Ducati is well worth waiting for, but if you must have a bike asap then I don't think the Triumph would be a bad bet. I just wouldn't want you to buy it then regret not waiting a couple months down the road!

I tried the Triumph Scrambler, which I could have collected within a week. Instead I chose to wait 6 months for my Icon. I am so pleased that I waited! The Triumph looks great, but I found it cumbersome and uninspiring to ride. I am so glad that I waited 6 months for the Ducati. It is lighter, faster, handles better, and looks and sounds (with the Termi Race) fantastic. No contest for me; but motorcycles inspire different feelings in different people!

Hey Basilisco, I hope you can wait because I also think the Ducati Scrambler is a better bike. I was originally going to put in an order for the Triumph, but I went with the Ducati. My wait is longer, I placed my order for the Classic in October 2014.:crying:

I placed order for red Icon 6th Feb in for red Icon ik UK. My dealer is unable to get info on bike since putting order in and will not know anything untill bike is built.

Try not to give in to impatience. Chances are the week after you buy the Triumph the Ducati is ready. I am also frustrated due to lack of info but I dont blame dealer
