Gave the dealer my deposit today after (finally) getting to see an Enduro and Full Throttle in person. When they got one assembled, the owner would come snatch it up before I could get there.

I'm waiting on a red Icon — either October or next spring. Dealer has it ordered as red, but Ducati has it shipping as yellow (we'll see Monday). Only other option was a Classic due in July, but I like red.

I've got two 79 Yamaha SR500s to keep me busy till then.

@ Karlo: Apparently most dealers pre-sold their entire 2015 order in the USA. Nobody in the Philadelphia/Harrisburg/DC area even has a demo model. The (red or yellow) one arriving in October is technically a 2016 model. If it ends up yellow, they may be able to trade with another dealer that ordered red but didn't sell it yet. If not I'm on hold till spring. He said yellow Icons are selling the most.

My dealer said the same thing. That initial wave of pre-orders and deliveries was all the US was going to see for 2015. If you get a chance to buy one...get it.

I guess it's actually shorter than if I'd made a deposit last year. People are still waiting for the Classic and Enduro here.

I cast a pretty wide net already and nobody has them, so I went with the closest dealer. He said if they can't get a red one by October he'd give the deposit back or sell me a yellow in December for the same price. Never mind the snow...

I made a deposit for a "Classic" back in August. Got the first one in the USA, picked it up at the dealer on Friday.

There's a thread on this forum about it HERE.

Also, here is a LINK to my own personal first impressions.

Good news everyone! Dealer emailed me back. Ducati was shipping as yellow (not sure whose error), but somebody swapped something and a red Icon is coming for me in August now (instead of October or next spring). So that's a nice bump up in delivery time.

@ tonyjuliano: Nice bike, I saw your article over the weekend. I'm starting to like the aluminum fenders. Otherwise the tank panels don't have much to match with. I kind of wish Ducati offered a solid tank without the panels. Maybe a slightly higher capacity with knee indents.

@ cycletime71 — Thanks for the offer, but I'll stick with my order. Would like to start a good relationship with the dealer closest to me. I've got other bikes to put back together in the meantime.

Hard to believe some places have unsold Scramblers, but that's the way she goes...

I applaud you honoring your original commitment - something way too rare in today's world.

I hope your dealership of choice treats you in the same manner (unlike the dick who just tried to "poach" a sale in this thread!)

@ tonyjuliano — Can't really blame him. If I had inventory I'd be hustling to move it entering the back half of the season.

Also not eager to forfeit my deposit and drive 8x further — so yeah, just better to stick with my agreement.

Especially while interest in it is still fresh, have to take advantage of that hype and ride the wave. It's all about the bottom line!

Dude, you must work in sales.

Your statement pretty much sums up everything that is wrong with the world today - for me.

I long for the days when Engineers ran companies, not Salespeople.

Wow! I never expected to be called a "dick" trying to help a fellow Scrambler enthusiast. I commend you Brendan for sticking with your local dealer as I have lost a few sales to unfulfilled delivery promises. I was just trying to help. Tony, to come out name calling on something that doesn't even pertain to you is uncalled for and not tolerated here.

Piss off then...

You tried to poach a sale from someone that already had a commitment from someone - that makes you worse than a "dick" in my book.

And who are you to say what is "tolerated" here - what have you contributed to this forum, besides trying to line your pockets?

You have like 3 posts here...
