I went to my local Ducati dealer last Saturday to buy a Monster 821 but ended up buying a Full Throttle instead! I had my heart set on a new Monster. I've owned 2 in the past and love them. I saw the Scrambler at the dealers and asked for a test ride on that before I rode the Monster.

My first impression was that it was very underpowered, but I soon forgot about that when I realised how much fun I was having. The only thing I didn't like was the seat, it's the worst motorcycle seat I've ever sat on, but of course that can be changed.

I then rode the Monster, which is a whole different ball game. A stonking engine with loads of smooth power. I actually put a deposit down on the Monster and went home.

I was very happy with my choice but I kept thinking of the Scambler. Long story short, I phoned the dealer yesterday and told him I wanted the Scrambler instead!

Only downside is I now have to wait several weeks.

The monster is a more exciting ride because of its power and handling but the Scrambler has that old Ducati feel. You know you are riding an air cooled v twin (or L as some like to call it). The bike I rode had Termi cans so sounded great as well. I realised I didn't need loads of power to enjoy my ride, just a good sound track and a good feel.

That's funny - it's similar to what happened last week when I had a guy in town renting a bike from me. He said he wanted the Monster 796 no doubt about it. Then he came to the shop and saw and sat on the Scrambler, and he ended up renting it instead! He said he had a blast on it and was extremely happy he rented the Scrambler, so I think you made a good choice!

Give the seat a chance, for the first 1000 kms I was determined to change it, at nearly 4000 kms I dont even notice it, either it broke in or I did.

Im also being resilient and trying to hold out for the seat break in. after about 1,500 miles it seems to slowly be budging.

Not my seat, any longer than an hour on the bike and I end up sore and sorry.
Currently sitting in my car while the guy shapes my new seat, and custom cover to follow.
