Well folks, took the plunge and dropped $189usd on a pair of Dainese X Strike gloves. Pricey, I know; however, it seems you get what you pay for in this case. Review on video. I also ride the Scrambler through some back roads in Monterey County.

I just got a chest mount rig on amazon, so I am going to strap on the go pro and attempt to do something similar to this. My Go Pro is ancient by today's standards, but it works. I gotta figure out a microphone setup but want to make a little riding video as well.

Bravo! I was half expecting you to say that you DIY'd a Go Pro mount by stitching some 3M Dual Lock velcro onto your jacket or some part of your helmet.

Well, looking forward to some more cool Scrambler videos. :D

Outstanding! We need more Scrambler vids. I use various microphones. I found the sony ecm to work the best and the audiotechnica is nice.. but then you have to deal with the long cord.

I bought a GoPro and did a test run the other day. The video looks OK and the sound even better with the chest mount and termi exhaust. Most of my rides are in the twisties and I try to push it to the best of my admittedly limited experience level (~600 miles). I'm not sure about posting though because from past posts here it looks like videos showing riders who may exceed the speed limit on occasion are not politically correct. I would be happy to share though if their are forum members who are interested in seeing the performance limits of the bike (and this rider) pushed.

My go pro doesn't take a microphone directly into itself so I used the Sony ECM mic hooked up to a Zoom H2 in my pocket. Now I have no idea how to sync the 3.82gb video with the 1.18gb audio file. imovie is taking forever to crunch the video. I downloaded gopro Studio and it's also taking forever to convert the video.

I should probably just sell my go pro and buy a newer one that I can plug the microphone right into. It'd make life a lot easier.

I went with the Dainese 4 Stroke EVO Gloves, love them. Although, in my opinion, They are a little stiff brand new and it takes about 150 miles or so to get them broken in. But once they are broken in and formed to your hands, that are great gloves.

I gotta tell you, it was a tough choice between the two. I dont think you could go wrong with either glove.

Dude, I have the zoom H1. I didn't even know there was an H2.

Your GoPro has an internal mic right? Just start your GoPro and H2 at the same time and clap your hands together a couple of times. Now you have a couple of wave peaks that you can use to sync the H2 to the GoPro. Then you can just get rid of the Go Pro audio, or keep it and combine it with the H2 audio in your helmet or wherever so you can hear your voice as well as the engine. You'll probably want to bite the bullet and buy a cheap video editing program e.g. adobe premiere. I tried a couple of programs and they all sucked so I am just going to pick one and learn to use it.

That's not the issue. The issue is converting and combining huge video and sound clips and then fine adjusting them to get them laid over top of each other. I have a 5 year old imac that's nearly full and the two software options I have are iMovie and the GoPro Studio (free to download.)

I used GoPro Studio and got a finished 'whole movie' with audio. Now I have to edit it down because it was long and boring. But now I have something I can chop up into clips. The problem with recording one long movie and one long audio clip is mostly how much it taxes the computer. It'd be a LOT easier if I could feed microphone into the camera, but my gopro is too old and doesn't allow it (that I'm aware.)

The audio file size doesn't seem right to your corresponding video file size.

A 10 sec CD quality stereo audio file should take no more than 1.7Mb and a corresponding 10 sec 640 x 480 video would be about 275MB (both uncompressed).

As one moves up the video resolution chain to 1080p, your video file size will increase but there is no reason to go beyond CD quality audio and it should still remain same.

I had my H2 set to 24/96 .wav so it was chewing up memory. The 1gb file is for 33 minutes of audio. If I would have had it set to 128kbps MP3 it would have been much smaller.

I'm getting to a final video now, it's just annoying and taking time :)

The cure-all is to buy a new camera that accepts a helmet microphone input. GoPro Studio handled the video quality conversion better than iMovie does, so I'll probably start using that. My audio/video mix file ended up being 2.82 GB in .mov format. It'll take a small eternity to upload that to youtube, but I plan on hacking out at least 50% of the footage since I'm just rambling on about nothing important.

GOPROSTUDIO is a fastest way to churn out a decent video. Obviously, using adobe you can get real high-speed and fancy. I just use GOPRO studio though, as it is fast and fairly easy to use.

I also hack alot of stuff out of my vids. For exampe I rode for two hours and only made a 17min video.

My latest video.."single track fun" was during a three hour ride.. but I only made a 4minute video.
