why do you need a steering damper?
CNC racing steering damper does fit the cafe, with some caveats
The first thing is that the bolts that hold down the clamp mount on top of the triple clamp (handle bar mount for other models, really just holds up the speedometer on the cafe).
the cafe's bolts seem to be smaller than the other models' bolts, and in turn the bolts provided in the kit:

I just re-used the stock bolts and nuts. they were plenty long enough
The 2nd thing that i learned is that the top of the cafe's fairing is mounted via 2 bolts to the top triple clamp
you need to remove the top triple to put a mount part on (much better solution that other vendors).

i didn't realize this and broke a tab on one side (when getting the triple clamp off) of the triple clamp (surprised it broke an not the plastic fairing).

No big deal. i put a washer over it and reinstalled. it's fine.
i don't think it matters, but this bit doesn't sit perfectly flush (not sure if it does on other models):

thanks. haven't ridden with it yet. have been working with CNC directly. they advised that the smaller bolts for the cafe aren't good as is, with there being a gap in the holes in the damper mount.Glad our video was helpful, and your install caveats and insight were awesome. they're making and sending me some spacers. not sure if they'll mass produce those for the scrambler.
also the stock bolts aren't long enough after all. they're m8 40mm, need 50mm
i'll post back once completely done and have had a chance to ride with it.

I thought removing the top triple was pretty difficult. there may be a better way, but i used 2 hammers. one up under the triple, another to bang on the end of the first hammer. good luck. there's probably a better way, but i just banged on it forever.
if you have a cafe, be sure to remove the fairing first. i didn't realize it until it was too late, but there are some clips on the fairing that attach to the top triple. broke it a little bit, but it's fine
the damper makes a huge difference. highly recommend.

Thanks I was thinking about doing the same as yourself except using a 1X2 piece of wood to bang under the clamp. Just a question I watched the same video from astroscrambler the part where he preps the spacer that attaches to the ring it looks like he lubes it but the instructions don't indicate such a move do you know anything about that?

Hi Vito, not sure about the spacer lube. i don't think matters. as i recall, wasn't necessary.
getting the triple off was the most time consuming. yep, your 1x2 is a good idea.
aside from getting the top triple off, yeah, i'd say your time estimate is about right.

Just installed the damper your tips worked great (used 2 hammers) didn't have the wood pieces around. The top triple can off rather easily maybe cause the bike is still new. I didn't remove the head fairing just took the bolts off and maneuvered the plastic around its pretty flexible. I used the cafe racer spacers kit ,I thought it would make the whole top plate,top clamp & cnc arm bracket flush instead of the gaps between the parts I guess thats how it suppose to fit?
Doesn't really matter now just want to test it out when it stops raining. Thanks again for the help and advice.

Whats your best mod and where did you get the number change from?

my best mod is this and a healtech quickshifter.
i stripped the plastic off of the number plates. not that easy, had to buy a heat gun and scrape it off.
after screwing it up a few times, i had a buddy paint and clear coat it for me. it's rustoleum metallic rattle can paint. clear coated.
news to me, but applying clear coat is timing sensitive. you have to do it within an hour of painting, or wait 48 hours (something like that).
if you clear coat within that bad window, it'll turn into a spider web looking ****. not sure why, but it did (rtfm
i got the stickers somewhere online. they're just on top of the clear coat, just in case i decide to change it.

yeah, i think that's how it's supposed to fit. i was actually the prototype guinea pig for the kit. emailed cnc way back when asking if it would fit. took some measurements etc and they got that together.
email them if you have any specific questions on fitment. they're really responsive.
