****, thats disappointing! I did touch it at the ducati dealership and noticed it wasn't very thick nor was it that high of quality. I was thinking id just buy it anyway and use it until it looks bad and while im doing that i would take the original black seat to a reputable upholstery place and have them replicate the the classic seat design with thick high quality tan brown leather.

That is a bummer, wonder if they'd cover it. I have a classic seat on order. It looked like really nice quality leather from the pictures, my hope was that it'd look better with wear and age like other high quality leather stuff.

The Scrambler FT I saw at the Motorcycle Show in March had the same issue...paneling on the rear part of the seat has started coming apart. Ducati rep said it was pre-production but I have a feeling we're going to go through a lot of seats on these bikes...yikes.

Maybe my ass is extra sensitive but I have never been comfortable on any OEM seat on any bike I have owned. I have had sargent, corbin, danny gray and had a solo Harley seat reupholstered and air cushioned, All felt much better than the oem seats. I even replaced my BMW S1000R seat with the BMW comfort seat and that sucked. I replaced it with a Sargent. What a difference. I called Sargent yesterday about this bike. They have several models they are already working on for the scrambler in R&D. Currently they are only offering to perform a foam alteration on our existing seats but I don't feel like going without this bike for awhile as it is new and the weather is getting nice.

That's poor, the ones I saw closeup in the dealers didn't look like real leather to me, more like a faux leather? But not too hard wearing by the looks of it - perhaps you have a seam that is catching it, if it doesn't happen to others? I have a favourite pair of leather trousers and have a hard seam right where the panel is - on the stock Icon panels it rubbed all the shine off but since having them powder coated there is no mark (yet .. !).

~1200 km on the clock and I think the seat is looking good. I am on tour for the next four days so will take a close look afterwards. I will have done another 1200 km's on the seat.
I underestimated our trip which turned out to be 1600 kilometers in four days. I just took a good look at the seat and it is showing no marks or wear that I can see.

The first day we rode for 500 plus kilometers and I can tell you my butt was sore after 12 hours on the bike, but so were the butts of the guys riding the BMW GS adventure type bikes.

Extremely comfy? No
Good enough? Think so
Quality? No issues so far
