Hopefully when adding a tooth to the front sprocket the bike's fastest gear will still be 6th gear. I ran an extra tooth on my current street bike for years to calm down engine vibration at 65mph so I could cruise interstates more comfortably. Then at some point I realized the bike went faster in 4th gear than 5th due to horsepower and wind resistance (could get up over 100mph in 4th gear, but not in 5th) so I switched back to factory gearing so that the bike goes fastest in 5th gear.
A lesson I learned on my TW200 is that the factory gearing got the best fuel economy even though the engine ran at higher RPMs almost all the time when doing normal riding. For a while I had on a smaller rear sprocket for highway lower RPM but lugging the engine like that actually resulted in lower fuel economy. So once again, I switched it all back to OEM.
In this case, since the same engine has been used in the Monster 796 with one more tooth on the front sprocket, I presume all is OK in terms of changing it out to a bigger sprocket. It seems to have the horsepower to not care about a bigger front sprocket.
