Would like to make everyone aware who may be considering an aftermarket tail tidy. I messaged Evotech and asked why they had their tail tidy designed in the way they have unlike R&G who have it tucked under the tail. Here is their response which I consider genuine as looking on R&G website they state their tail tidy can only be used with plates up to a max size of 130mm high which is a 7X5 plate...

Hi Tony, We have to take into consideration all different size number plates when designing tail tidies. We tested the suspension travel and felt that was the best position for the tail tidy. If the tail tidy is tucked underneath the rear end, the number plate will hit the rear wheel.

It does look nice, other than the random logo prominently displayed. I appreciate their pride in their product, but as a customer I don't want their logo branding the back of my back.
Intersting place to take a stand, as your bike is branded Ducati, your tirees are branded Pirelli, your helmet is branded something, same goes for your gear...

Does anybody have a picture of the Evotech tail-tidy?
Thank you!

USA license plates on motorcycles are 7x4. Are all European plates big?

I'm not a fan of logos either, but it's just embossed and it's not colored or anything. I think it's pretty subtle, but you could just put a little piece of matte black vinyl over it.

The R&G is far neater but too far in for that angle to have a plate dig into the rear tyre. If you bent it out no doubt you would crack the paint/powdercoat too. The evotech ones are always solid and I had one of the first off the line on my Monster 1100s and very well made out of thick plate. I don't like that evo tech one because of the plate light and would put me off. My monster one used a round post led and was subtle and I see they are saving money by using the stock one which is good but it looks clunky like that. I think I would prefer a bracket from the bottom to shine the light up instead or from the side possibly. I don't mind my standard one for now as its practical and will probably make my own up out of flat sheet. I have a friend who has a machine that could do it but as I said not right now is that important to me. I made my plate smaller though on day 1 to 8 x 6.

Albie I agree about the Evotech light looking out of place in that position. I only ever use 8x6 plates myself too :)

The pics you showed have a full size plate. You have a pic showing the 8x6 mounted? I ask as the full size plate looks like it just about covers the mounting plate

Full size plate here

This is the 8 x 6

I had to trim the bottom fixing points off about an inch up as the bracket must be specifically for a large plate. I re-drilled higher and to the middle.

Fair one, must have missed something! Is it just me that thinks the rear mudguard looks pretty bad? I like the low mounted plates (although UK plates are too big) but that tiny mudguard is gonna come off to make the rear look slimmer. I heard it doesn't really work anyway. Coupled with small LED indicators it should tidy it up.

Plate will ALWAYS be there in the way. I will have it nearer to the floor for now rather than extending the tail to a number. I get it though honest I do. Been there done that.

Albie cheers for the pics. I think for now I may just trim the plate holder like you have done and keep an eye on companies like Bruudt to see what they do for a tail tidy.

How about a piece of clear Perspex with a head up displayed on it whilst riding. Now that's the future.
I have heard a lot of people are getting 7 x7 with legal size letters. Need to investigate that
