Trying to fit a Battery Tender Jr quick disconnect to the battery. How do I get the cover off to expose the battery terminals?

I got the rubber strap unhooked on one end now can't get it to reconnect?

Thanks

You need to remove both the rubber strap and the hex head fastener located in the plastic cover towards the rear of the bike, at the location shown...

Then mover the plastic cover out of the way.

My bike has a battery tender plug already installed on the inside of the left side forward frame, you don't have that?

Done Thanks for the replies.

Still trying to fit the rubber strap.

It was the hex head fastener that was holding things up. A picture is worth a thousand words.

All bikes should come with the plug already fitted, this one didn't.

Cheers

Your dealer did that - not all do...

Wish mine hadn't, as the 17 year-old they must have given the job to bodged up my battery connections - grrrr!

I thought I read somewhere that the manual references having the battery tender plug?
If it did, and mine doesn't, it will only fit a Ducati charger and I would guess anything with an identical plug. There's no global standard so if it didn't fit an Optimate I'd be ditching it anyway.

My UE came with a pre rigged plug that is not directly Battery Tender compatible however my dealer gave me a Battery Tender adapter plug for no charge, probably a $30 part. I can post pics later if anyone is interested.

Are you gents referring to the SAE 2 connector? I go around fitting it in all my bikes and was planning to fit one in my Icon too. I have at least 3 uses for it:

a) Power my Slime Tire Inflator
b) Power my 12V pressure washer
c) Connector for my Maypole charger

If it came pre-installed that would be awesome. Will take a peak one of these days.

Here is a pic of what is under the seat on my UE. I am in the U.S. but don't know if that makes a difference. The plug in on the bike (yellow part) has a locking black cap. It looks like it would be, and it might be some sort of other diagnostic connector as well. On the left is the adaptor the dealer gave me to hook up my battery tender over the Winter although I intend on riding it enough even then to not really need it. :)

Mine came with the SAE2 installed from the dealer. I specifically asked them for it, but I believe they said they install them for all new bikes they sell. I have them on all my bikes with batteries and leave them on a tender to keep the battery fresh especially the Monster because the battery is a PITA the replace.

I ran mine out under the seat. This is my first attempt at picture posting, fingers crossed
Really not needed during the summer riding months but very handy to keep the battery topped of during the winter

I do not believe that the yellow plug you mention is a "battery tender/charger connector" as the charger connector only requires 2 leads: + positive and - ground which are each attached directly to the + and - terminals on the battery.
Even though things tend to stay dry under the seat I would not like an open electrical plug like that. Now I have to go look at my Icon to be sure I haven't got on open plug. I'll post result of my inspection later.

OK, so I looked under my seat and found the 4 wire plug. If yours was open then you have somehow lost the protective cap that clips on the end of the plug. It must be a diagnostic plug IMHO.

See picks below:

Just to be clear, does that black adaptor cord plug onto the Yellow port with the other end going into the battery tender? This yellow port is what hooks the bike up to the DDS at the dealer, and it was my understanding that this is used for data, not power.
