Hi all,
its been 20 years since I have ridden any bike and I am considering getting a Scrambler based on the fact that -
I love Ducatis and have owned a 500, a Dharma and ridden an SS 900 so I kinda know what to expect,
I am 55 years old but probably will 'think' and try to ride like I used to at back at 35 and that could be dangerous (rider training course coming up methinks),
The Scrambler (and I have test ridden one) steers a whole lot quicker than ye olde Dharma and is a whole lot lighter and lower so it may be the weapon of choice for a vintage person such as me,
Most of my ridding will be suburban bound and I find that the 75hp it makes enough for my needs.

Now, the other Duc that I am looking at is the 2004 Multistrada or an ST2 and reconsider touring.

Any thoughts on my choices for a mature aged rider making a comeback?

Thanks, Chris.

Well I'm 57 and I made the switch from a 110 cc moped to the 803 cc Scrambler. Just more than 3 months and 4500+ km later my only regret is that I didn't do this earlier. But then again, the Scrambler wasn't available earlier. The transition was much easier than I thought. I see one member of this forum ordered a Scrambler at 77 years old!

I am a 56 year old female and went back to riding a year and a half ago. Started from scratch and now test rode 4 different new bikes before the Icon. This was the only bike that I could handle comfortably, weight and height was an issue. Not as strong as I used to be and even though I am 173 cm tall, I am getting a lower seat. Will post again next week when I have had picked up my Icon and ridden for a few days>:D

Rather than an ST2 see if you can try an ST3. Not too many of them about but it's a much better bike, using the 996 engine and with 20% more power than the ST2. I loved mine, all day comfortable, quick, and it didn't miss a beat in 26k miles.

Thanks for the replies,Phil good to hear that you did 4500km in 3 months! Wow.
Grila, I hear you about strength issues, I fractured my back in 3 places due to a 160kmhr head on with a car on my BMW and dont want to aggravate it.
Jerry, I am sure that the ST3 is a better bike but I am really trying to avoid horsepower over 100 and was happy with my old K75 and the Dharma in terms of power.
Thanks again.

Hey welcome to the boards and congrats. Id say one of the single best things you can do for your comeback is to get a bicycle. Get comfortable with the balance and leaning again, shouldn't have an issue... get a bit of cardio, stregthen those legs and core somewhat ;)
