I'm starting this thread to try and get a data base of Australian suspension options going.

I have a Nitron R1 rear shock on order from ProMecha in Melbourne, I should have it within two weeks and it is costing about $970 delivered in Brisbane. I will post a review and photos when I fit it.

I ordered an Ohlins from Omnia Racing in Italy about three weeks ago, so far I haven't cancelled it nor have I had an update on availability. Not sure what I'll do with this one yet. It is approximately $750 delivered to Brisbane.

Peter from ProMecha in Melbourne can improve the front by updating the internals, new springs to suit my weight/riding style and says he can include a braking anti dive circuit, approximately $570, I have to remove fork legs and post them to Melbourne.

There is a place here in Brisbane, Suspension Improvements in Slacks Creek, he will upgrade the forks damping for $450, the price goes to approximately $700 with springs. Seems very expensive for springs, it wasn't a great conversation, I'm guessing he was busy, he was saying that the springs will be difficult to change and will require a special tool and therefore the expense. I didn't come away with much confidence. He has already done the damping on a Scrambler but no springs as yet.

What are others doing?
Is there a better option I'm missing?

I'm waiting... So far the stock is ok my only complaint is low speed harshness - I'd love for it to be more responsive to little bumps but I guess I'd get that with something vey high end like ohlins.

Andreani fork cartridges fitted today, I've only done about 50k's tonight, more tomorrow.
First impressions are,

front sits higher, possibly 30mm, noticeable,
front is firmer but absorbs bumps much better .

The installer set the sag and the damping to put it "in the ballpark", seems great, a little too firm if anything. The back is now a bit low, lifting the rear will soften the front so should all be good. I'll need to spend some time fine tuning tomorrow.

These blokes in Melbourne (Moose Racing Products; Shock absorbers Euroa ? Moose Racing Products) built me a HAGON replacement rear shock absorber for my BMW R1200C, which was still pogo-ing on its original shock when I bought it from its original owner at the bike's ripe old age of 12 years.

The new shock works like a dream, handling vastly improved - and they took my personal rider's ballast, plus occasional pillion, into account when setting up.

Very fast turnaround, no complaints. Very well priced too ....

For the money, I couldn't do any better than the M shock. Even with the cruddy exchange rate it was landed for $700 and is fully adjustable. On the forks I'm waiting on the Andreani kit.. should be here next Thurs. It was a toss up between the Maxton upgrade at $550 landed or the Andreani at $700ish, I went the latter for the extra adjustability it offers.
