I'm a Yamaha FZ-07 owner from NYC, but I'm a big fan of the Scrambler and I'm considering buying one in the near future. I absolutely love the FZ-07, and love riding it. I haven't seen the Scrambler on the road yet, but I'm planning on visiting a Ducati dealership to see one soon. I love the old school styling and simplicity of the Scrambler. All of the different versions look great. Maybe I'll get a 2016 next year. I'll keep checking out this forum to see what all of the new owners have to say.

Quite similar

I am a new Icon owner - put a deposit on it in October. I got to ride a FZ 07 during Arizona bike week a little over a month ago and was very impressed by it. Both bikes share many similarities such as pleasing low end torque and agile handling. FWIW the Duck may have a little more steam and perhaps better handling. I liked the transmission on the Yamaha very much perhaps slightly better seating and handlebar position. You have a very nice bike! You would love the Duck too!

I used to own an FZ-07. It got totaled 2 months ago after a car decided to change into my lane on top of me. Had my Scrambler for a week now. They are both great bikes. Transmission is smoother on the FZ. I'd agree with igotone and say the Duc has better suspension, but both bikes need upgrades in that aspect anyways. The engine seems smoother on the FZ and it also has better mid-range torque. I miss all the info on the FZ dash. The Duc pretty much has none of the cool dash features. Having ABS is nice. Honestly, it'd be hard to pick one over the other. I'd say keep both if you can.

I'm glad to hear your comparison of the two bikes @igotone2 . I've looked around the web and there went too many Ducati Scrambler vs. Yamaha FZ-07 write ups out there. I'm going to try to make it to a Ducati demo day this summer so I can get to ride one. The FZ-07 begs to go out for a ride daily. The torque just makes every ride fun, even in the city with 25mph speed limits. I'm curious to see how the Scrambler's torque feels.

@cmaikai I love the FZ-07 so much and I wouldn't trade it in, but the Scrambler is still on my mind. I do love all of the info on the FZ-07's dash, especially the fuel gauge and the gear indicator. I would love if ABS was available because the back brake locks up pretty easily, even without too much speed. I'm glad you're able to get back on the road so soon after totaling the FZ. Enjoy your Scrambler.

I'm happy that they are happy. Really. 0:)

I enjoy different styles of bikes and brands even though I'm a Monster/Scrambler Fan boy. The Indian Scout was on the list (but let's just keep that a secret ;) or a few hardcore Ducati friends might show up to reeducate me).

The most important thing is you enjoy riding, go have fun.

But the I decided to go to another party instead of your party because it seemed to fit my style better even though your party is cool too. I just thought you would like too know. So maybe next year ,unless I can find a way to visit both parties tonight is sooo ........:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Okay, I'm going to timeout (which means grab a frothy beverage).

Oh, I do enjoy the comparisons. Especially since I can not ride them all. I also believe competitive competition is good for everyone.

Helping someone with the pros/cons of each is also cool.

But walking into the Audi dealership and announcing you bought a Porsche is silly. Congratulations?

What's going on? Yamaha jumping onto Ducati sites saying how good their f707 is. It's happening on another forum too.
Either Ducati sales are biting or I'm imagining things.

This isn't Yamaha or anybody that works for Yamaha. Im a real person. I'm just someone who is seriously considering buying a Scrambler.

Apparently I'm not very welcome on this forum. I joined to find out a little bit more about the Scrambler, not to be called silly and "......." (Whatever that is) @RamblingPath I really hope you don't represent most of the people on this forum. You're a real ...... I'll just try to find some info from another source.

If you get your feelings hurt this easy, it isn't this forum that is not for you. It is the whole internet.

Yes you are welcomed here.

Not an apology, but Yes I can be a ........ (will never deny it, will always speak my mind, am very opinionated - right or wrong, but give others the freedom to do also). If you disagree with me, just say so. A lot of people do. A lot.

Strictly a suggestion, if you want to talk about the scrambler, here would be good. If you want to do a comparison between the Yamaha and the Scrambler, let's start one in the vs forum of this board.

Another one would be the comparison between the M796 and the scrambler. Also getting a lot of cross thread talk.
