Hi Everybody. After 36 years of riding Jap bikes (apart from a couple of Triumphs), Ive taken the plunge and followed my heart this time. I put a deposit on a Red Icon a couple of weeks ago and hope to pick it up at the weekend. It has arrived at the shop but I'm waiting on some full throttle bars to arrive. Loved the test ride apart from the high bars. But after 10 years on various sports bikes I guess it was going to feel odd to start with. I have always wanted to own a Ducati but am not interested in fancy electronics or rider aids nowadays. Smiles per mile is all i'm looking for. I've been in stealth mode reading stuff on the forum over the last couple of weeks. Good work being done here.
I live in Epsom which is about 15 miles south of London and 15 minutes from the famous Box Hill bike meet. If theres anybody local to me please say hi and maybe we can meet up. Cheers.

Thanks for the welcome. As for other mods well all I want to do is get the bike home first and actually ride it. I will get the first service out of the way then decide what i want to do with it. A luggage system will be a must as I like my trips.

That's what I like to hear, too many people jump right into modifications without riding the bike firstly. Do you plan on going for some long rides to get the break in done quickly or just let it happen overtime with the usual commuting you do?

Ducati offers one... I'm not totally into it... but then again not into most luggage systems...

I'm always on a mission when I collect a new bike. Like to get the first service done ASAP. I will probably get the mileage done in the first couple of weeks. As I mentioned in my initial post I have ordered the FT handlebars as I found the standard ones a bit too high for my liking. Only other thing on my mind at the moment is perhaps getting rid of the standard number plate thingy.

Bestia.

Ive been using Kreiga luggage for about the last 5 years. Really well made and totally waterproof. However, having looked at the "Scrambler" options I'm undecided and would need to see them rather than just photo's. I'm sure some of the luggage suppliers out there are working on alternatives. Will wait until next year and decide.

For now I just want to get it home and ride it.

Regarding luggage I plan to get the SW Motech Blaze panniers later in the year and have my US10 on rear of seat for trips. I like how at destination you do not have any rack or side bag mounts on show with the SW Motech kit as all it has left on the bike is 2 brackets

Collected my bike today. Rode it home with a big smile on my face. Took the scenic route and did about 75 miles. The bloody mirrors are stiff to adjust. Other than that Im happy with it. Saw a couple of other Scrambler owners at the dealer. One had the Evotech tail tidy on which looked good and the other (classic) had the DM rack fitted which was also impressive. Both on my list now. Will be glad to get the lower FT bars on mine at the first service though. Think they look better and am hoping they will be more comfortable for me.
