Ducati let loose on the motorcycle world today revealing a host of new vehicles at EICMA. The 1299 was the penultimate reveal of the presentation, but it is being labeled the lightest and fastest sports motorcycle on the market.

The 1299 Panigale will enter production early next year, and should be on sale by February or March. The bike has an incredible amount of power at 200 hp. Unsurprisingly, the Panigale 1299 has more power and torque than the 1199 Panigale. it isn't just more powerful though, it also has an abundance of new features and technologies that really take this bike to the next level.

The 1299 Panigale comes with Ohlins Smart EC. This is a semi-active EVENT BASED suspension system. When cornering and leaning the suspension is altered which means that the bike can cope with bumps in the road easier.

The host of new features also includes up/down quick shifting, cornering ABS, wheelie control, a new swingarm position (-4mm), steeper rake (24 degrees vs. 24.5 degrees), and machined footpegs for better grip.

The Panigale 1299 is going to be coming in 3 different versions. A standard version, an S version and a R version. The R version will be entering the World Superbike Series next year. it has 205 hp @ 11,500 rpm and 136.2 Nm @ 10,250 rpm. It is also the lightest sportsbike on the market at 172 kilos wet. I'm sure we will be hearing a lot about this new superbike in the future.

I thought they were going to stop at 1199 for a while to come and wasn't expecting a bike that sits above it this soon. Ducati really brought some awesome bikes to this years EICMA show. Thanks for posting this.

to put the panners new suspension in perspective, its analagous to the self asjusting system BMW parades on the HP4 S1000RR. Its mean, electronics are the new horsepower.

Although the most important development IMO is the revised geometry. Steering rake now at 24 degrees is said to make handling sharper....
